What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
working in a boatyard trying to figure out how to spend more time
living and less time working. and drinking coffee in the morning,
beer at night and playing mandolin and ukulele. and looking for
music. or something interesting. also reading a lot. and until
october, gardening a lot. those tomatoes aren't going to grow
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
drinking coffee and beer (not at the same time). editing. fixing
boat systems. growing stuff. singing along with my radio. (i have
no idea if i'm good, empirically.) staying up waaay to late.
talking. listening. sailing. i kick ass at that.

generally books with more of a literary bent, but i will read
anything down to matchbooks. movies--captain ron, jane eyre, room
with a view, anchorman, strange brew, the life aquatic, lawrence of
arabia, secretary. tv--the wire, weeds, the new girl, archer, mad
men, the office. i don't have cable, so my tv viewing habits are
mostly dictated by what hulu has on. music--i've discovered
virtually everything has merit. it's easier to say what i don't
like, but even that is flawed. food--locally sourced. asian.
french. italian. for the most part anything really good. like that
radish and arugula from my yard.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
playing music better. sex. why people seem to be really dumb. why
societal change occurs at a glacial pace in the right direction but
swiftly in the wrong direction. how to do three things at the same
time. if those pellets are actually going to keep rabbits and deer
away from my garden. how to work less and live more.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
around town looking for live music. then watching said live music
and drinking beer and bourbon.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
i went from having a girlfriend in high school to girlfriend in
college to wife to ex-wife to girlfriends from boats i worked on,
so, more or less, i have no idea how to date.
