I am compassionate, humorous, and thoughtful.
My Self-Summary
The things that are important to me are not things at all, but
people. I truly appreciate my friends and family and spending time
with them. I have a strong sense of empathy and a strong sense of
humor. I like to really look at the world around me and relate as
well as I can to other people's experiences, but I can also see the
humor in things. I am socially conscious and accept people from all
walks of life. I am a thinker, a hippy (i use this term loosely,) a
liberal, a lover of music, a true blue friend. As a side note, I
also like to write when the mood strikes. Sorry about the rambling.
:)
What I’m doing with my life
I have done some different things from working with
at-risk youth as
a Case Manager to various roles in
radio at one time. I did promotions,
on-air/engineering, and produced commercials. Each role has pros
and cons, and they were all worth doing. I do hope to get back to
working with kids again someday, and also considering commercial
production again. Currently unemployed, but hope to turn this
around again as I am looking to go back to school and get back on
track.
I’m really good at
Making people laugh,
writing (on occasion), obsessing :)
(more frequently), knowing the lyrics to almost any song that plays
and of course singing along to it, interviews and being a good
friend. This list will grow. That is my mission! Pretty low
expectations for myself eh?
The first things people usually notice about me
That I look like someone they know. I just have one of those faces.
I am half Mexican and half Welsh/Jewish(unknown origin). I can pass
for just about any race. People always think they know me from
somewhere. Sometimes it is right on the money though because I went
to 10 different schools in one city, so I have crossed paths with a
lot of people. However, when I do tell them that I didn't go to the
school they think they know me from or that I don't know of the
concert they saw me at, but that I hear it so often it is almost
laughable they never look like they believe me. Weird.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I love
dark
humor-
David
Sedaris rocks my world,
Augusten Burroughs can be
cool and I also like
Laurie Notaro. Ever since
Harry Potter
came out I have also gotten into
fantasy books (guilty pleasure).
Another book I love, and I think is beautifully written, is called
The
Shadow of the Wind by
Carlos Ruiz Zafon.
I love all sorts of
movies including
dramas,
comedies,
suspense and a good
musical. Some of my favorite flics
are
American
Beauty,
Opposite of Sex,
War of the Roses,
Stardust,
Rear Window,
Big Fish,
The
Princess Bride,
Little Miss Sunshine,
Amelie,
Juno,
Dan in Real Life,
The Devil's
Backbone,
Charlie Bartlett,
La Vie En Rose,
Chicago,
Yentyl,
The Sound of Music,
My Fair Lady,
and
Grease. I am
sure I left something out..so sorry to the forgotten. :) I am not
that much into action movies, but there are exceptions like the
latest
Batman
movies, or on TV I really enjoyed that one and only season of the
Bionic
Woman.
As far as music goes I love the
80's and
Americana the best, but I really like
just about anything from
Old School Country to
Old School
Rap...and did I mention I know the words to almost every song
out there? :) Here is a list of some of the artists I like: ABBA,
Aimee Mann, Amos Lee, Amy Winehouse, The Asylum Street Spankers,
Spoon, Billy Joel, James Morrison, Bruce Sprinstein, Brett Dennen,
Cake, Caroline Herring, Cat Stevens, Black Eyed Peas, Colbie
Caillat, Counting Crows, Duffy, Fiona Apple, Flobots, Landon Pigg,
George Michael, Joan Jett, Madonna, Michael Jackson (old stuff),
Queen, Ray LaMontagne, The Doobie Brothers, Sting, Patty Griffin,

Malo, Shelby Lynn, Paul Simon, Tori Amos, Belinda Carlisle, Tracy
Chapman, and U2.That list is a little funky eh?
Food-
Thai,
Mexican,
American,
Italian...
Off topic-great shows are The
Flight of the Conchords
and the
Sarah Silverman Show. I
have also gotten into sci-fi type dramas like Fringe, Battlestar
Galactica, My Life on Mars. I was a hesitant recruit on Battlestar
Galactica, but it is admittedly pretty adictive. I also watch
(gulp) All My Children! Nowadays I am digging a lot of comedies
like Glee, Parks and Recreation, Modern Family, United States of
Tara (comedrama), but also like the dark dramas like FlashForward
and hopefully V (the jury is out on this.)
The six things I could never do without
All I need is the air that I breathe and to love you :)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
relationships, the world and how it could be better, and the
importance of open and honest communication. I also spend a lot of
time thinking about sleep. I think about how much I am going to
need to be functional the next day, and I try to come up with ways
to ensure that I reach that magic amount. I should just skip all
this work and start downing some Nyquil right?
On a typical Friday night I am
If I am not out listening to music, at a club or maybe at a movie,
then maybe I will rent some movies or read. Oh yeah, if you want to
talk game night folks, I will play a mean game of Sorry! I do like
the telly, and catch up on that late at night too.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I am far from perfect; Mistakes have been made. No amount of
questions will really give insight into who I am or who I want to
be, but I try very hard to be honest and that ever elusive good. I
am pretty hard on myself. I have set expectations about being as
good (there is that word again) a person as possible, and I don't
always meet those expectations regardless of my efforts. As far
back as I can remember I have been this way.
You should message me if
You want to make a friend, you think my stories in my journal are
funny, interesting or strange.. Write if it seems that we have a
good amount in common and might have things to talk about. I think
you should write me. That is a challenge. Basically, I am daring
you..
