My self-summary
My name is Andrew (of course) and I'm from Madison, Mississippi, a suburb near Jackson.

As Thomas Jefferson once said, I cannot live without books.

I am a Christian. That's pretty important.

I'm a bit of introvert.

I value kindness, compassion, and empathy.

I'm kind of Southern, but mostly just suburban.
What I’m doing with my life
I teach American and world history at a private school out in the county. I'm excited about my job this year. If you want to know my future plans, it's better if you ask me personally.
I’m really good at
I can edit the hell out of a term paper. Some people I make laugh; others I don't. I think I can tell a decent story. I also have a talent for both whistling and nonsense. I crush at trivia contests, for whatever that's worth.
The first things people usually notice about me
Just a head's up: even though I almost always take them off for pictures, I wear glasses, all the time.

I'm a terrible judge of what people tend to think of my personality.

I had a friend tell me recently that she forgot I had a sense of humour because my face didn't change a lot, but I don't think that's totally fair.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Watership Down (Richard Adams), Saint Maybe (Anne Tyler), One Hundred Years of Solitude (Gabriel Garcia Marquez), The Things They Carried (Tim O'Brien), anything by William Shakespeare but specifically King Lear, The Bridge of San Luis Rey (Thornton Wilder), The Brothers K (David James Duncan), The Fault in Our Stars (John Green), some detective series & Harlan Coben novels, Harry Potter, et al.

Movies: Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Big Lebowski, Say Anything..., Big Fish, Remember the Titans, Doubt

I don't like horror movies.

Music: Jimmy Buffett, Todd Snider, Robert Earl Keen, David Wilcox, Jason Isbell, Hayes Carll, Drive-By Truckers, Miles Davis, Billy Joel, Dave Matthews, The Beatles, Jim Croce, Sam Cooke, et al.

TV: Current: Community, Mad Men, Pawn Stars, Lost, Firefly, Freaks and Geeks, The Wire

I have simple food tastes. If this is a big deal to you, you'll have to be patient with me.
The six things I could never do without
-God's grace
-my family & friends
-books
-the New Orleans Saints
-probably the internet
-water
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Just my ever-continuing quest to be an adult.
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm kind of going to have to see what this year's like during the school year to give a meaningful answer. On Fridays, in the fall at least, I imagine I'll be at the football game.
I’m looking for
  • Straight girls only
  • Ages 23–29
  • Located anywhere
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
Just go ahead. Keep in mind:

I'm looking for somebody intelligent and independent-minded.

Imperfect people will be received.

I'm sort of a hippie, politically, if that's a problem for anyone.

I'm not looking for anything specific. I just want to be open and honest about whatever.

I'm not saying it's an absolute dealbreaker, but I'm pretty unsure about dating anybody with children.
