My self-summary
I'm a father, a biker (motorcycles), a gear head, a geek and a feminist. I know these are all just labels but labels can be so damn useful.

When I grow up, I want to be as cool as my kids. They're not afraid of the dark; things in the dark are afraid of them.

I work downtown writing software, maintaining information systems and developing a data warehouse.

I love learning new subjects and putting myself in uncomfortable situations. I've studied Chinese medicine, cave cartography, engine building, computer science, romantic relationships, the intersection of feminism and pornography and anything else that piques my curiosity. I love the library.

I enjoy getting outdoors. I've done some big rock climbs in Yosemite and Joshua Tree, a lot of caving around California, backpacking trips and car camping in Baja. Seriously though; if you don't like "the outdoors", you should probably move to Huston or something.

My last trip was to Lost Lake on Mt. Hood with my kids.
What I’m doing with my life
I have a five year old and a three year old. We play hard, work on projects and get outside. I also have days with no kids while their mom has them.

I took a few years out of the technology field to start and run a high-performance motorcycle shop. We built engines for amateur and professional motorcycle racers. I'd love to be doing that now but it doesn't support my family the way tech does. I hope to be able to work professionally as a mechanic in some capacity in the future.

I work hard to be the kind of person the religious right is fighting against.

I wish Hedwig and the Angry Inch would put out another album.

Being dad
Riding motorcycles
Picking up new skills

The first things people usually notice about me
I seem to be a weird mix of intimidating and geeky
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books:
Grapes of Wrath, Lamb by Christopher Moore, Scholar Warrior by Deng Ming-Dao, Being Piece, Hold Me Tight, The Forever War, How To Train Your Dragon, Snow Crash, Machinery's Handbook, The Internal Combination Engine In Theory and Practice Vols I and II, Breakfast of Champions, Love is a Dog From Hell, Barrel Fever

Movies: Anything by Terry Gilliam, Most films by Focus Features, Akira Kurasawa films, Bruce Lee, Old Jackie Chan, Swimming With Sharks, Brazil, Raising Arizona, Millers Crossing, Blade Runner, Adaptation, Kick Ass, Juno, ...

Music: Tom Waits, Cab Calloway, E40, Infected Mushroom, Caravan Palace, Nick Cave, Pixies, Retching Red, Black Flag, Melvins, Bikini Kill, King Missile, Rollins Band, Todd Snider, Dead Kennedys, Ween, Weezer, Little Willy John, Cee-Lo Green, The Ohio Players, The Krum Bums, Pansy Division. Two of my jobs in software were for music companies. I was exposed to a LOT of different kinds of music and I have favorites in just about every genre.

Shows: Firefly, Deadwood, Doctor Who, Six Feet Under.

Food: Everything (and I mean it). I love sea food, curries, Mexican, Thai, French, you name it.
The six things I could never do without
My boy and my girl. We can figure it out from there.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
When a guy gently puts his hand on a woman's shoulder while passing through a door. Is it physically comforting? It's a weird piece of social etiquette that I seem to be compelled to do. I tend to do it mostly to women and I wonder if it's embedded male dominance.
On a typical Friday night I am
tucking in the kids and working on a motorcycle project in the kitchen. Maybe getting a drink with a friend or making a big dinner for friends and family.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I get hungry every time I to go an aquarium.
I’m looking for
  • Guys and girls who like bi guys
  • Ages 33–45
  • Near me
  • For new friends, activity partners, long-distance penpals
