The basics: I grew up in New Jersey, went to college in North Carolina, spent a big chuck of time in grad school in Philly, and have been in New York for almost 2 years now.

My friends describe me as dull, uninteresting, and not pleasant to be around, but I think that says more about them than it does about me.

I like the usual things: TV, books, restaurants, etc. I have the pro forma interest in traveling, and having grown up in featureless east coast suburbs I really like mountains - hiking up them, skiing down them, taking some weird form of public transportation to the top of one, whatever.

Careerwise: I spent a crazy long time in grad school which resulted in a PhD (in neuroscience, thanks for asking) as well as an MD. These days I'm a radiology resident. My job is pretty great, and although the rest of this thing may not capture it, I'm really serious about it.

Otherwise: Trying to live every week like it's shark week.

I have a quasi-autistic ability to remember funny movie quotes and rap lyrics. If you find this kind of thing endearing (which, amazingly, some people do) we will probably get along.

Seriously no idea.

TV: The Canon (The Wire, Arrested Development, Friday Night Lights, British Office, Freaks and Geeks); Modern Classics (Community, 30 Rock, Louie, Parks and Rec); Immature Favorites (Family Guy, It's Always Sunny); Comedies that Shaped My Youth and That I Will Watch in Syndication Forever (Seinfeld, Simpsons)

Music: Standard 90's/00's indie rock (Arcade Fire, Pavement, Belle and Sebastian, Modest Mouse, Yo La Tengo, etc); Hip Hop (Outkast, Biggie, old Lil Wayne); 70's funk/soul (Sly Stone, P-funk, Stevie Wonder).

Movies: Coen Brothers, Wes Anderson, Woody Allen, innumerable silly comedies

Books: I guess I read enough books that buying a Kindle was worthwhile.

Food: If you live in new york and don't really like food you're doing it wrong.

Sports: Phillies and Eagles. I also follow the basketball team of a private university in Durham, North Carolina from which I received an undergraduate degree and which unifies the rest of the known universe (who cares about this sort of thing) in intense collective hatred.

I wanted to be too cool to have things I can't live without. Then I remembered sriracha exists.

Why I don't love Breaking Bad like apparently I'm supposed to.
