I am hey what's going on?, is this like madlibs, and oh I think I get it.
My Self-Summary
Hi I'm Andy, and I believe in
comedy.
I do
stand-up,
sketch, and
improv comedy out
of Memphis, TN, and when I'm not doing that, I'm usually sitting in
front of my DVD shelf obsessing over my movies.
My favorite people are people with strong opinions on movies. It
doesn't matter that much what you like, so long as you have
opinions about why you like what you like.
I come up with a lot of ideas which I do not have the means to
produce. When I smoke out with someone new, it's like I have a new
Pokemon card. (Gotta catch 'em all!) I hope to one day finish a
screenplay. I also hope one day to find a big box marked "
money and
fame."
What I’m doing with my life
I'm clawing away at a comedy career while working in radio. (Which
is just a fancy way of saying I put up tents.) I also now work as a
box office technician* at Comedy Tennessee for their weekend
shows.
I strive to be original.
*This is a made-up job title.
I’m really good at
coming up with punchlines for "99 _____s walk into a bar," making
mean-spirited yet warm-hearted jokes about other comics, telling
you how many movies Tim Robbins and John Cusack have been in
together and other useless trivia, etc.
The first things people usually notice about me
is how awesome I am.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I'm starting with movies, as that's pretty much what means the most
to me out of all these things. I've always been a visual
learner.
I love movies, and own over 500. But these are the ones that really
mean something to me, or that I never get tired of, or that I just
think are absolutely perfect: 12 Angry Men (1957), Alice in
Wonderland, Almost Famous, American Beauty, Before Sunrise, Blues
Brothers, Borat, A Christmas Story, City of God, Closer, Comedian,
Comedians of Comedy, Dawn of the Dead (1978), Dog Day Afternoon,
Dogma, Fight Club, The Godfather, High Fidelity, The Jungle Book
(1967), Kill Bill, Krush Groove, Magnolia, Me And You And Everyone
We Know, Mean Girls, Meet The Robinsons, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure,
Pulp Fiction, Punch-Drunk Love, The Royal Tenenbaums, Run Lola Run,
Rushmore, Shaun Of The Dead, The Shawshank Redemption, Sin City,
Snatch, State and Main, Super Troopers, Superbad, Tommy, True
Romance, Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, Yellow
Submarine
I also love TV shows on DVD. It's pretty much the only way I watch
TV, with a few exceptions. These are my favorites: 30 Rock,
Angel, Arrested Development, Big Train, The Boondocks, Buffy the
Vampire Slayer, Chappelle's Show, Clone High, Coupling, Deadwood,
Dinner For Five, Extras, Family Guy, Firefly, Heroes, Home Movies,
The Larry Sanders Show, Mr. Show, The Muppet Show, The Office (UK),
The Office (USA), Pushing Daisies, Saturday Night Live, The
Sopranos, Spaced, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Upright Citizen's
Brigade, Weeds, Wonder Showzen
I don't read as much as I want to, need to, or should. When I was a
kid, I was a mad reader.. an Accelerated Reader, one might say. But
in my adult life, the moving pictures medium seems to have taken
over. I am, of late, though, trying to get back into reading. I
have a stack of about twenty books on my dresser that I'm working
my way through.
These are my favorite books: Fight Club, The Giver, The
Godfather, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, Harry Potter,
High Fidelity, Killing Yourself to Live: 85% of a True Story, Sex
Drugs & Cocoa Puffs, Survivor, The Watchmen
Currently reading: Good Omens
I'm having the same trouble with music that I do with books. I'm
just not getting into as much new stuff as I always have. I think
this is something that happens as one gets older. Or maybe working
in radio just makes you hate everything new that comes out.
These are my favorite bands or artists: Beatles, Cowboy Mouth,
David Bowie, Detroit Cobras, Flight of the Conchords, The Hives,
Hootie and the Blowfish (guilty pleasure), John Lennon,
Johnny Cash, Louis Prima, Nickel Creek, Northern State, OK Go,
Oracle & the Mountain, Otis Redding, Outkast, Paul McCartney,
Prince, Sublime, Tenacious D, White Stripes
Food has always been my one vice, though now I have several. These
are my favorite places in Memphis to eat: Chinese Sub Shop,
Yum's, Huey's, Little Italy, The Cupboard, QDoba, Memphis Pizza
Cafe, Ubee's
The six things I could never do without
stage time, hoodies, my left knee (the right one is dead to me), TV
on DVD, my dog, and "Abbey Road."
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Usually, in the moments right before I fall asleep, I'm writing
sketches in my head and hoping I remember them when I wake
up.
As a bonus, my two most common dreams are zombie attacks and
opening night of the play for which I forgot to learn my lines.
On a typical Friday night I am
either performing in, selling tickets to, or watching a comedy
show. sometimes all three.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I own at least one Justin Timberlake album. I will not, however,
admit here the number of Hootie & the Blowfish albums I own.
You should message me if
