My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
My life is filled by working with youth. Making and building stuff is a major creative outlet for me. Getting dirty and playing in the mud (and/or the water) is possibly the finest way to spend a day. Spending lots of time outdoors on adventures is essential to my being happy.

I eat really well and cook a lot. I am on my bike every day. I fiddle around with a ukulele but I am not very good. I surf often. I rock climb on occasion. I play outside. I backpack, hike, and camp. A great evening for me is staying nearby with my roommates and friends while talking about anything and everything.

I love shaking my ass on the dance floor. I am very into communicating clearly. Sometimes these are related, often they are not.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Professionally: I helped found a new alternative school that's going into its 4th year. It finally feels real. Now I run all of the auxiliary programs and make stuff with kids ages 6 to 16 in a bunch of after-school and summer programs. Weird stuff like abstract paintings done by dancing on huge 10ft by 30ft photo scrims. Big stuff like a ridable indoor roller coaster that hits 18mph.

Personally: Trying to grow both physically and mentally as consistently as possible. Right now that means making new friends outside my current crew, and taking climbing and surfing more seriously.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
- Seeing how damn-near-anything is absolutely fascinating.
- Figuring out how to explain and compare really big numbers.
- Jumping into water (the ocean, waterfall pools, puddles).
- Following through.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
- The big smile that readily makes appearances on my face.
- The fact I wear cute t-shirts.
- That I am excited about some recently read factoid/story.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I have just finished a young ladies illustrated primer. I am a huge fan of scientific non-fiction like Chaos. The modern explosion of beautifully illustrated books like The Principles of Uncertainty and Radioactive: Marie & Pierre Curie: A Tale of Love and Fallout has delighted me again and again. Then there are oddball books about seeing the world differently like How to be and Explorer of the World that tickle my creative fancy.

I am generally sucker for movies. Up made me cry like a baby. Kings Point had me being introspective about being old and alone for the rest of the day. The World's Fastest Indian had me instantly dreaming about the odd old man I hope to be someday. I am down to watch a movie and it will always get me.

Firefly is my all-time favorite TV show. It is 13 episodes of already-strong characters getting stronger, more complicated and more interesting every single episode. I like the The West Wing for the same reasons.

I love food, especially eating it. Burritos, sushi, Indian anything, Cuban, Thai.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
- trees to climb
- cast iron pots and pans for cooking
- a notebook
- my pocket knife
- adventures
- post-adventure naps
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
- Learning about learning
- meta-cognition in children
- the interconnectedness of things
- when my next camping trip is
- when I am going bouldering again
- how to be better at the things I love
- how to show the people I care about that they are awesome and loved
