This thing is telling me I need a self-summary. I don't know what
to put here. I could actually put something halfway relevant in
here, but I think I'd rather just add whatever random crap pops
into my head... or not, because this right here is apparently long
enough.
Yeah, I'm not really trying on this.
I recently moved from Oklahoma to Colorado. I'm also a licensed
EMT... in Oklahoma. It's interesting to say the least, but it
wasn't really for me. At the moment I'm just going to be going back
to school at Front Range once the spring semester starts and then
I'll hopefully be moving on to a four-year school once I finish up
there.
I don't know if I'd call myself "really good" at much. I'm kind of
like a jack of all trades but master of none. One of the few things
everyone says I'm great at is remembering useless crap. Most of my
friends seem to think I should go on Jeopardy... and I'm starting
to seriously consider it.
I "look like Jesus." Just, please, don't tell me that. It got old
within months of first hearing it... when I was 19. I'm 23 now.
Frankly, four years of that is more than enough. I don't know how
much longer that will last though, I'm really starting to lean
toward getting my hair cut short for the first time since I was in
high school. I'm just thinking of doing something different, you
know?
Also, the following is usually one of the last things people notice
since you can't see it from more than about three feet away. I'm
only including it because I think it's interesting even if it
sounds cliche... My eyes, but not for the reasons you may think. My
pupils are two different sizes.
Books: I'm not exactly a literary heavyweight. I read, but probably
not as much as I should.
Orwell is probably my favorite author and
lately I've been on a bit of a
Kerouac kick, but other than that my
favorites are probably Watchmen, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the
Galaxy, My Sweetest Victory, Napalm and Silly Putty, and Flat Out
Flat Broke. I've also been known to look through my old EMT
textbook whenever I'm bored.
Movies: I can watch just about anything apart from slasher flicks
that are simply violence for violence's sake and completely
over-the-top chick flicks. That being said, there's nothing wrong
with the occasional horror film and I can even stand your average
romantic comedy that makes your testosterone levels drop if you
make it through the entire thing. As for favorite genres, I'm a
huge fan of mob films (think Goodfellas or the Godfather series),
those schmaltzy sports movies Disney has started churning out in
the last ten years or so, and just about anything by
Studio Ghibli or
Pixar. If the mood strikes I can also waste an entire day watching
film noir, something by the Coen Brothers, and there's never
anything wrong with mindless comedy if it's not something on par
with what you'd expect from 1000 chimps sitting at 1000
typewriters.
Music: Specificly, at the moment I'm mostly into the following
bands:
Manic Street Preachers,
Oasis, Dropkick Murphys, U2, The Beatles, John Lennon, Pulp, New
Order, Joy Division, Primal Scream, Stone Roses, David Bowie, The
Velvet Underground, and to a lesser extent Blur, Roxy Music,
Nirvana, Muse, Depeche Mode, and The Killers. In general, a lot of
Britpop with some
punk, classic rock, grunge, and the odd bit of metal or electronica
thrown in.
Food: I can handle most stuff as long as it's not very spicy or has
a noticeable amount of anything I have deemed "weird." In other
words, I never outgrew that phase we all have when we're five years
old and we're incredibly picky but I don't like to admit it.
Oxygen, shelter, sustenance, clothing, some form of transportation,
and something to listen to. Silence bothers me.
My mind tends to wander. If you ask me what's on my mind repeatedly
you'd probably get a different answer every few minutes. Some may
call it ADD.
It varies. I stay at home and just watch a movie or something more
often than not, but it's not like I'm a homebody. About the only
Friday night things I ever really plan are game nights with one of
my friends and her parents about once a month or so. Other than
that it's pretty much "whatever I feel like doing and isn't
prohibitively expensive."
I thought that Ride of the Valkyries was called "Kill the Wabbit"
until I was about 12... because of Looney Tunes.
If you think there's some common ground on which to start a
conversation or if you simply feel like it. I know, I know, hardly
an original answer.
