Be gentle, and keep the soft parts of you soft and yielding. Care about it all, and when you are tired of caring about it all, care some more. Think meticulously, but know that your thoughts are just bubbles bouncing across the ocean waves. Admit ignorance and then work tirelessly to resolve it. Be fierce in your love and in your integrity, and forgive yourself when you are not. Be bold. Bite off big chunks of life, hold them between your teeth, and shake your head like a dog with a squirrel.
What I’m doing with my life
It sure would be nice if I knew...
I’m really good at
Contemplating biology, then writing about it and teaching it to others. Lifting heavy objects off the floor and putting them down again. Sewing my own vintage clothing and knitting fabulous hats. Stepping into people's lives at the precise moment they need me. Staring into the abyss and not being terrified of the animal that stares back. Drawing portraits of people. Singing in the shower.
For the sake of balance and honesty, things I'm terrible at: dancing, directions, moderation, jumping rope, tolerating complacent ignorance and/or unrepentant cruelty, cleaning my car, sending out Christmas cards, humility.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
The OkCupid matching algorithm. It’s horribly nerdy, but I’m fascinated by it. Does it work? Does it actually predict compatibility? To be honest, I originally got on this site to answer questions and play with the matching algorithm. I've found some good friends and ex-lovers on here and it looks like I have above a 90% match with all of them, so there must be something to it.
You should message me if
You've actually looked at my profile and some of my questions and think we might be able to fill an empty void with words for forty-five minutes over a drink.
You're local. I'm getting a lot of great messages from people who are miles and miles away. I'm actually more interested in people I can grab a beverage with around town than long-distance pen pals.
