My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
a california transplant (via a few years in new york) to beijing with an enthusiastic and optimistic yet discriminating palate. i've been enjoying tumbling about the city for a while now in spite of the unbreathable air and undrinkable water. i just returned from a few months out of town, and it's good to be back with my bicycle in narrow hutongs and on wide boulevards. though, at the moment, i'm predictably pretty over the winter cold and firecracker fixation.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
chilling in the northern capital--critiquing rural development, making photos, and thinking about my next snack.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
making pie crust

perhaps too earnest and rambling, all in no particular order and incomplete:

truth and beauty, war and peace, anna karenina, love in the time of cholera, ender's game, visit from the goon squad, unbearable lightness of being, lucy morris

manhattan, annie hall, everyone says i love you and pretty much everything woody allen, rules of the game, royal tenenbaums, five easy pieces, carnal knowledge

i didn't grow up with TV so i'm pretty useless in that regard. there are shows that i've enjoyed before. i watched i love lucy when i was younger and remember watching the first season of lost when i was sick in bed at age twenty. curb your enthusiasm is pretty fabulous as are the planet earths.

django reinhardt, thelonious monk, charles mingus, explosions in the sky, azealia banks, tribe called quest, todd terje, goldroom, gold panda, sam amidon, dylan, neil young, tallest man on earth, beyonce
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
the written word and printed image, the internet, mason jars of water, uncontrollable laughter, extremes, new things
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
the twenty million things i could do with my life and how lucky that is.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
generally out, hopefully dancing
