I am intelligent, clever, and deliberate.

My Self-Summary

(as a heads-up, I don't think I've edited this since posting)

I think it's easy to nitpick qualities you want in other people; I prefer to be careful of what I wish for lest I get it in heaps.

What am I looking for? Well, In the words of Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart: "I know it when I see it". He was referring to obscenity, but I digress.

I'll stick to that I know: describing me. I'm a single dad. My interests range from political science to philosophy, from film to Pacific Rim dishes, from history to, well you get the idea.

There's not much I enjoy doing that the kids can't do. I'm big on conversation and people who have well formed opinions. Avid reader. Not so prolific writer. I love sports, geekery and tightening up my golf game. I would like to think I'm an affable enough fellow; easy to approach and low maintenance.

Those that know me will tell you that as much as I enjoy cutting up I enjoy being focused and intense as well. "He's a multi-faceted guy. A veritable walking swiss army knife."

Caveat Emptor: I'm liable to ask and answer anything.

I'm not interested in discrimination disguised as preference or based on the superficial and solely physical. I enjoy people who are intelligent, progressive and thoughtful in how they approach life and value those same attributes in others. I've found those qualities more rewarding and difficult to come by.

I wish we could bottle some of this guy up and sell it in a package because he's just amazing. And we'd make a helluva a profit. (<-edit by freckleface1217)

The six things I could never do without

Daughter
iPod
Stimulation
Laptop
Library
Coffee

I spend a lot of time thinking about

-The fragility and wonder of existence.
-Accommodating my fellow man.
-The two manuscripts I can't seem to finish.
-If I could ever score a film using MF Doom cuts.
-Why stereoscopic 3D gaming hasn't taken off.
-That apparently I'm an ENTP.

On a typical Friday night I am

Watching a film with the spawn, out with a few friends or possibly here. If you see me logged in feel free to shout. I'm sure I'll respond.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Ask. If you are willing to converse, I am willing to share.

I'm a bookshelf voyeur. Ask me if you don't understand.

And that I operate within a time dilation field.

You should message me if

One of these kinds o' people:

People who ask why because it matters. People who are interesting in lasting ways (intellect, sincerity, depth, warmth...). People without vapid glam shots and are not obsessed with their appearance. People who actually know what intelligent conversation is. People who like Scrabble. People who know enough to make sure their profiles are Safari friendly. People who know what Safari is. People who read/think/live outside the box. People who are not dismissive and discourteous.

Those whom desire engagement and understand what I mean by that.
