My Self-Summary

I moved to Monterey about a year ago for school. Missing the rain in the pacific NW, but its growing on me :) Raised on an island in Washington near the border, I've since lived in Portland, OR and Saint Petersburg, Russia. I love to read, watch movies, hang out with friends. I'm a coffee addict.

In the last five years, I've lost 200 lbs. I'm not done, but I love my body and refuse to hate myself because I might not fit into what some people have categorized as "beautiful".

What I’m doing with my life

I am in grad school for a Masters in International Policy Studies. I received my bachelor's degree in 2008. I spend most of my time in class or studying, with daily trips to the gym. When I'm not in class or at work, I'm usually sleeping, reading, or watching movies. Nights of debauchery are known to happen.

I’m really good at

moving forward in my life. I will keep moving towards my goals. I've had some negative events in my life, but I've never let them get the best of me.

I'm also good at keeping in touch. I will always call someone back.

And I can crochet; how many women under the age of 60 can say that?

The first things people usually notice about me

Usually my lips or eyes. Especially in the process of the last 100 lbs I've lost, I've noticed that these two things seem to be taking over my face.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I love historical fiction. And yes, I have read all of the Harry Potter books. Tried reading Twilight..... not really my thing. I guess that my taste in movies is similar to my taste in books. I love drama, especially historical subjects (WWII is my fav). Action is good to; loved the Bourne movies. Comedy sometimes, I just don't like when its over the top. I love all kinds of music; putting my itunes of shuffle is dangerous, you never know what you will get. Food: Sushi, italian, mexican. I love fresh fruits and veggis and have recently discovered the magic that is a crockpot.... my roommates are very happy about this as well.

The six things I could never do without

the next step. I am always planning for whatever is next. I need to spend more time in the present.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm afraid of the dark.... seriously. I know that makes me a 5 year old. I don't mind being outside when its dark, but dark houses scare me.
