Dig, if you will, my profile. I've been a little lazy about this so far, so bear with me while I get myself all explained and whatnot.

I am a filmmaker and teacher, though I support myself primarily as a negative cutter of motion picture film. Most people don't know what that means, which is okay because most people in the world don't do it. I'd be happy to explain what it entails if you're at all interested. I have an MFA in Film Production, and eventually (soon) I'd like to be teaching film at a college full-time. I've resigned myself to the fact that I will never make very much money, and I feel just fine about it. Your salary, likewise, means little to me. What does matter to me is creativity, adventure, integrity, challenge, and happiness, and that's all doable on a modest budget.

I get the hiccups a lot.

I haven't read for fun nearly enough lately, but some of my favorite authors are Denis Johnson, Thomas Pynchon, and Milan Kundera. My adolescent self loves me some Peter Beagle. I can also be persuaded to read some popular young adult stuff, as long as it doesn't involve sparkly vampires.

Movies? Oy. I love so many different styles and genres. Some of my all-time favorites include Children of Paradise, Il Posto, Singing in the Rain, 8 1/2, The Apartment. Anything that Ozu or Wong Kar Wai made. The Elephant Man makes me cry like nothing else. American horror from the seventies and eighties. I'll leave it at that for now.

Music is similarly hard. My reliable go-to's are The Pixies, The Kinks, The Temptations, Ella Fitzgerald, Elliott Smith, Smokey Robinson, Radiohead, Cocteau Twins, Lush, The Stone Roses, Built to Spill, ELO. And I've been going through a bit of a Beggar's Banquet phase lately. Phase. I'm slightly mortified that I spelled it "faze" before. The shame.

I would eat Indian food all the time if someone would cook it for me.

Definitely not eating popcorn for dinner and watching British sitcoms with my dog. Because that would be sad, right? On other Fridays I might be at a movie/show/Georgetown beer purveyor.
