I am silly, immature, and smart.

My Self-Summary

I find it difficult to summarize myself. I like to talk about books, movies, life. I can spend hours over dinner or drinks talking with people. I'm a good listener and good at asking the right questions. I will tell you my opinion about things and you may or may not like it. But I'm not judgmental, so I tend to be the person people turn to when they need to talk, even though I am opinionated.

What I’m doing with my life

Have a job I love (97% or the time) so that's taken care of and I spend my free time doing all sorts of shit just because I want to or because a friend needs a plus one.

David Lynch told me (well, not me personally, it was said to a big group of people but I like to pretend when I tell this story) take joy in the doing. So I have a few things in my life that are just about doing.

I’m really good at

laughing at myself
listening to others
entertaining myself

The first things people usually notice about me

eyes, hair and attitude

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books I read over and over:
Fight Club, Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk
Slaughterhouse 5, The Sirens of Titan, Cats Cradle, God Bless You Mr. Rosewater, Breakfast of Champions by Kurt Vonnegut

Recent reads: The Death of Bunny Munro, Neal Stephenson books (read Snow Crash, Diamond Age and Quicksilver back-to-back, needed a break before the rest of the baroque cycle)

Movies I watch over and over:
Magnolia
Three Kings
Fifth Element
Requiem for a Dream

Music that gets stuck on repeat:
Elliott Smith
Old 97s
Matthew Sweet
Joanna Newsom
Stax records best of
Andrew Bird
Martha Wainwright
many, many, many more

I go see a lot of live music. But I'm not much of a talker while the band is playing or if I'm going to talk, I stay at the back so the people who actually want to see/hear the band can enjoy it. This has become a big pet peeve. Don't tawk at the rawk show!

The six things I could never do without

friends,
computer,
electricity,
running clean water,
music,
money (can get by with just enough to pay my bills, but seriously couldn't survive without it)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

what's next

On a typical Friday night I am

Dinner or something with friends, shopping because the H-E-B is less crowded and I can take my time, reading or watching a movie at home. Usually, I'm up late, late on Fridays cause I don't want to waste the weekend so all of these things are done on a typical Friday night.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

It involves eating too much BooBerry cereal because I wasn't allowed to have it as a kid. But I'd probably admit most things that are true about myself if asked directly.
