trying to make myself useful while i'm here.
i'm a social worker. i do something related to sociocultural animation and community building: i conjure and nurture engagement.

i am interested in how to crystallise different forms of civic engagement. i work mainly with volunteering projects, which i am (the irony...) paid to project manage.
i also work with more ephemeral forms of participation, and increasingly, i work with forming and sustaining different types of self-help networks: associations, local exchange trade systems, interest groups within a bigger context.
the common ground is finding ways of working together to make life better.

i'm interested in building what you might call social mobiles:
i'm thinking about how to build sustainable projects, in and of and for the community, with volunteers, and at the same time, i'm thinking of one of those delicate works of art, suspended in mid-air, the individual elements free to move and catch the light, all of them interconnected with gossamer thread.

recently a little overstimulated from working / studying / synaptic activity. and therefore relishing the comforts of my cave.
