Moving.

Summer is finally wrapping up, and I really couldn't be happier.  I've been working at Prudhoe Bay as a temp the past couple months, which I will *never* do again.  The work itself isn't too terrible--sweeping, mopping, and painting floors--and the pay is pretty good.  I like the schedule, too.  It's a 2 week on/2 week off rotation, which means I work 12 hours a day for 14 days straight, but then I get to go home 2 weeks off.  My main problem with it is that my coworkers are the most bigoted, racist, sexist, and just plain *stupid* people I have ever met in my life.  The pay is good, but not enough that I could ever stand to do this again.

The main thing that's kept me going is that once this is all over, I'll get to have probably the most exciting year of my life.  On the 25th I leave for Spain, where I'll be living until August of next year.  I'm enrolled at the University of Málaga studying history with native Spanish students, hopefully I avoid English enough that I'm close to native fluency by the time I leave.

Mostly I'm excited to meet all new people and experience a completely different style of life.  Being able to go to bars and clubs (America's drinking laws are archaic and ridiculous) will be wonderful, and the change in weather from Alaska to the Mediterranean Coast is more than welcome.

Only two weeks left!
