My self-summary Propose an edit

Well, for starters, my name is Steven. I am mostly here just to meet people in general, especially in my area. I enjoy meeting people - although at the same time, I can be a little shy at first. Not always, though. I wish there was an easier way to meet people in West Virginia - but I have yet to find it. So here I am.

I am not always the type to make first contact. Sometimes when I see someone on here, I don't always feel they would be interested in speaking to me, so I tend to pass them by. Then, sometimes, they IM me, and completely surprise me. I enjoy that. So if you find me somewhat intriguing, please don't be shy. I find everyone interesting. I enjoy meeting new people, without any expectations. Seriously.

Also, I don't mind if you IM me (or send me mail, obviously). I don't IM other people first though, since many do not appreciate it.

I graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan in 2006. I majored in Computer Information Science and also picked up a business and history minor. I'm a so-called "nice guy" who has learned from his mistakes, in a positive manner. I've been burned a time or two, but I always come out on top in the end. I am a happy person. I greatly enjoy the outdoors. I dislike being stuck inside all the time. I like a few TV shows, but I can think of better things to do with my time. I would much rather hang out with friends, or go somewhere with someone I care about.

I am an Aquarius, with my ascendant (rising sign) in Scorpio - if that means anything to you. Look up Aquarius on Wikipedia, and that's me in a nutshell. I have mixed feelings on the whole astrology thing, but I must admit, I am definitely an Aquarius. I don't really care if you believe in astrology or not though - I'm not sure what I believe myself. It's just eerily correct about me, and I can't deny that.

And just to be extra clear - I pretty much like everyone. I am not judgmental, at all. If you're thinking I probably wouldn't care to know you for whatever reason, you're wrong. So please don't be shy. =)

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit

Working as a system administrator at the moment. Looking to do something more with my life, but I'll have to wait to elaborate on that. ;)

I'm really good at Propose an edit

On a professional level, I do well with network administration, web design, computer repair, etc. It's not my passion, however. When I come home, the furthest thing from my mind is a computer. I want outside, or I want to hang out with friends, or spend time with someone I care about. But yeah, in general, I'm good at fixing things.

On a more personal level, I think that I am a good listener. I enjoy conversations, with anyone. If you "ramble", I will not be irritated. In fact, I will most likely enjoy it. I will care about your opinions, and everything you have to say. Really, I will. I love it when someone can keep me talking for hours on end. Also, although I realize this is supposed to be what I am "really good at," I must admit I am not always the best conversation starter. But if you can get me talking, I will talk to you for as long as you would like.

I would like to think that I am there for those I care about. You would have to ask them, though. I don't like to assume things. I am good at keeping an open mind, and never judging a person. I don't like bragging, though some of this feels like I am. I don't mean to, though. Just attempting to be "open" in answering this question.

I tell the truth. Sometimes a little bluntly. I never mean harm, though. Ever. Some say I am blunt to the point of hilarity, others may think it is to a fault. You will never offend me, though. I will want to know what you think. I will try my best not to offend you, to the point of over-explaining my intentions to avoid it. I'm good at reading people, but I think it is hard for people to read me - hence the over-explaining (at first - this becomes unnecessary once I get to know you). Just be open and blunt with me, and we won't have any problems at all. I love it when two people can be completely honest and open, without any worries of being judged or misunderstood. It's a rare thing, but something I love to experience.

Over time, people usually notice my sense of humor. It takes awhile before I start joking around though. I have to get to know a person first. I'm a little bit shy in the beginning. This is mainly just due to me not wanting to offend anyone. Not that I am all that offensive... I simply tend to over-think possibilities to the point that I am not sure what to say.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit

I love freaky, strange books haha. I like Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and others. My favorite movie of all time has to be Tombstone - although it's really the only western I like. Just something about it haha. I love seafood. I just discovered I liked sushi a few weeks ago. Never thought that would happen. But don't worry, I wouldn't eat it in front of someone who couldn't stomach the sight of it haha. But you really should try it! :-P

The six things I could never do without Propose an edit

Friendship, the outdoors, exercise, family, a vehicle, and caring about something.

By listing "caring about something," I am not saying I have to be in a relationship at all times - in case it comes across that way. I do not. I merely think life itself is rather empty, if you don't care about *something*. Whether this be friends, family, a cause, or someone you care very deeply about romantically... I just feel the need to care about *something*, you know? What's the point if nothing matters?

I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit

Absolutely everything. My mind is constantly considering every possibility, every detail around me, every random thought imaginable. I can not control it. It's the typical "head in the clouds" Aquarian thing. I will over-analyze a dead horse until it begins kicking itself. Yep, I'm that good. :-P

I don't usually let people in on my thinking process, unless they specifically ask. I usually assume knowing such intricacies about the way I think would annoy most people, so I don't always offer my thoughts. If you ask, though, I am an open book - with only but a few missing pages. ;)

I do think about the future a great deal. Sometimes I worry, sometimes I look forward to it... but I'm always thinking about it. I tend to forget the past. To me, the past is mainly meant for learning not to repeat mistakes. I live for now, and tomorrow. After that, whatever happens, happens.

Sometimes I am lonely. But if I wasn't, I wouldn't be here. So perhaps it is obvious, and not so private after all.

If you are in my area, and are looking for friends (or the *possibility* for more, but not necessarily). I would like to make it clear that friendship before dating is a necessity to me. I do not believe in love at first sight. Lust, perhaps. Not love. If I am to love someone, it has to be for more reasons than their appearance. Hence the necessity of discovering friendship with someone first.

So yes, I am basically looking to meet new people. Whether that leads to friendship, or more, it doesn't really matter to me. It's boring here in good ol' West Virginia. I prefer getting outdoors, going on hikes, kayaking, fishing, etc - but I don't really have anyone to do that with. I'm a social creature, and I don't really enjoy doing things completely by myself all the time. Sometimes, sure. But I would like to be able to share those experiences with other people.

I would like staying in sometimes and talking or hanging out just as much, though. I believe everything in life is good in moderation. That's all I really want from a partner - someone who enjoys life and everything in it, in moderation.

But hey, "just friends" is always cool too. Seriously. =)
