My self-summary
I guess I'd call myself a bit of a creative type whose main interests are music (been playing guitar since the age of 10) and writing (mostly story ideas, bits and pieces of dialogue and half-finished screenplays).

When not doing anything related to either of those, I can usually be found taking a walk, watching movies or the occasional TV series, reading various news sources, shooting the shit with some friends over drinks, killing time on YouTube or Wikipedia, or occasionally playing video games.

I also love clouds and can stare at them forever, or at least until I get hungry or have to use the little boys' room.
What I’m doing with my life
I currently work as a copywriter for a private school in the San Jose area. When not focused on work, I spend my time composing music and generally trying to kick-start some kind of career in that area. I like my job, but it would be nice to have something to show for the two decades I've spent learning to play this damned thing.
I’m really good at
Not taking myself seriously; playing air guitar and drums in public; risking permanent injury through the constant repetition of scales and arpeggios that usually makes up my practice routine; starting writing projects and finishing them years later; being my harshest critic; admiring clouds during the bus ride to and from work; getting up and walking into the next room for no perceivable reason. I am also pretty frequently told that I can be rather funny, particularly when I start riffing on a topic that interests me.
The first things people usually notice about me
I honestly couldn't tell you. Could be the long hair, could be the way I talk, could be the fact that I acquired a good portion of my wardrobe at concerts. I've never really had the inclination to find out, but maybe I should.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Movies: Kids Return, Network, Late Spring, Men With Guns, Drunken Master II, Hard Boiled, Spirited Away, The Big Lebowski, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, Children of Men, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Adaptation, Monty Python's Life of Brian and Holy Grail, and just about anything with one or more of the following actors/actresses: Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Campbell, Christopher Walken, Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen, Catherine Keener, Marisa Tomei, Takeshi Kitano, Frances McDormand, Chris Cooper, Paul Rudd, Meryl Streep and Maggie Gyllenhaal

Music: Yeah, I'm a bit of a music geek. I'm not about to say that I like everything (and anyone who claims to is almost always full of shit), but I enjoy at least a few artists from just about every genre I've heard. Mostly I find myself listening to metal, prog rock, jazz/fusion, symphonic, and electronic music. All-time favorites include, but are not limited to: Devin Townsend, Arcturus, Hammers of Misfortune, Kate Bush, Poe, Leonard Cohen, Ulver, Susumu Hirasawa, Akino Arai, Allan Holdsworth, Faith No More, Shining, Death Grips, Tub Ring, Ben Folds (Five), Shiina Ringo, XTC, The Pillows, Porcupine Tree, Marillion, Maaya Sakamoto, Joe Hisaishi, Yoko Kanno, Danny Elfman and Frank Zappa.

TV: Cowboy Bebop, Hajime No Ippo, Law and Order, FLCL, Berserk, The Daily Show, Mr. Show, The Office, The Venture Bros., Space Ghost Coast to Coast, The IT Crowd, Breaking Bad
The six things I could never do without
-my guitar
-something to listen to music on, be it my phone or an mp3 player
-friends to chill with
-a good laugh at least twice a day
-a semi-scenic area in which to take long walks
-a reasonable amount of time to myself.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
A lot of things, usually depending on what's in front of me or what time of day it is. It's usually safe to assume it has something to do with a music or writing project I'm working on.
On a typical Friday night I am
Working on my Pro Tools tan; writing; hanging out with friends at home or somewhere other than home; catching up with the news; addressing the backlog of albums I haven't listened to or movies I haven't watched.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I hate driving and love taking public transit. It doesn't prevent me from owning a car, but I avoid using it if I can. I'd rather spend time on a trip reading something or maybe catching a quick nap, and the exercise I get from walking certainly doesn't hurt, either. Every time I'm stuck in traffic, I just feel like I'm slowly dying.

Also, years ago, my friends used to playfully accuse me of having "yellow fever," or an unhealthy obsession with all things Asian. Though I didn't, and don't, I can see why they might have thought that way. I was kind of an anime nerd for a while (I still like it, though I've seen almost nothing released after 2006, unless it was a Miyazaki or Satoshi Kon film.) and took Japanese classes for four semesters in college, very little of which I actually retained. I may have also acquired an affinity for some Japanese musicians and bands. I regret nothing.

Oh, and I love Eurodance music. Seriously. Love the stuff.
