My self-summary
Hello. I'm Aria, it's nice to meet you.

I have a new profile on here, the name is starmekitt3n, because my match results were all wrong on this one cuz I had it for ages, but I''m keeping it open for the journal facility.

I live in Birmingham and I'm currently residing in the quiet suburbs with a bird, terrapins, lots of broken laptops and a Gamecube. I have time on my hands and need to find some people (or some better webcomics at least) to spend it with.

I was meant to be going to university last year but it kind of all fell apart. I've sorted myself out a bit now, I've got some money, I'm starting college this year to train as a social worker, which is very exciting.
I'm a bar maid at a pub in Digbeth, it's fun stuff. I put nights on there as well, an open mic every Wednesday and a night filled with bands and ice cream on sporadically placed Sundays. It's called Ice Cream Sunday, funnily enough.
If you feel like coming down or playing, you should message me, I'm very open to offers. I also do PR for a band called Evil Alien. They're going to be big, watch this space. (:

I really like experiencing new things and meeting different types of people. A good trait of mine is that I get on with nearly everybody, and I try to be an open minded person. However, I am quite opinionated, under my calm exterior, especially about politics and gender. I spent a lot of time last year campaigning for more social housing in Birmingham, which involved squatting, which was cool, literally, as it could get quite chilly at times. I guess you had to be there. :D

I used to read a lot but right now I'm finding it hard to motivate myself, so most of my reading material is generated via the internet. I've just read the first two books of the Millenium trilogy though, and am currently working my way through a textbook of Welfare law, so maybe the tides are changing.

I love computers and computing and am a bit of a nerd. I love them more than people, because computers do what they say on the tin. A spade is a spade. I'm a very blunt person.

I can build a computer from scratch and I enjoy learning how things work, I can find anything on the internet given half a chance and I probably type faster than you using less fingers. :D I hate Apple with a passion and believe in the open source community and information sharing.

I like to go to gigs and to raves, and when I do I dance like a mad-man. It's ace. I haven't had the money to go out in a long time though, it's probably all different now. I've got a lot more free money now but am too scared to go out on my own.

I'd love to learn to play the guitar or drums, or both tbh, but alas, I have no instruments, and not so much patience. Still, if you fancy teaching me for free then give me a message. I'll draw you pictures of tortoises in MS Paint in return. They're my speciality.

It's been a weird year and I just want some good influences in my life, nice people to share fun times with, and people who I can have good conversations with, who could even broaden my horizons a little. If you want some company for impending adventures you should definitely get in touch. Even somebody who wants to watch a few good films, or bake the world's best brownies together, or swap a couple of CDs, that would be great.

I don't really like myself but my friends think I'm nice, and if your friends think you're nice too we'd probably get on. I'm pretty amicable.

I am cur!ous, infectious, and dangerous

What I’m doing with my life
Whiling it away. Sleeping and trolling/lamenting 4chan. Researching Russian brides.

Getting ready to train to be a social worker. Realising everybody hates social workers. Wondering if I will make a good social worker.

Ah, I used to want to be an author and then I realised lots of people did so I gave up. Then I thought about going into academia but then realised I don't want to write essays and over-analyse beautiful things for the rest of my natural life. I mean, it's interesting, but come on. Also, middle class hierarchical institutions piss me off.

I definitely want to see the world. I'm desperate to travel, I want to experience as many different cultures and lifestyles as possible. I'd quite like to study abroad if/when I go to University. I don't like the UK much.

My problem is I don't really know who I am. I guess whatever I want to do it would have to be something that interests me; I find it hard to get out of bed otherwise, preferably something that changes other peoples' lives for the better, and something that changes every day. I get bored easily.

My general goal in life is to transcend shitty little society-imposed boundaries. Which is why I don't think it's funny when I'm criticised for reading classic literature and saying "innit", or loving sick, gory horror films and also glittery pink stickers, or listening to black metal and happy hardcore. It's called taste. Fuck off.

I would like to live by the sea, and be remembered for something. I just haven't figured out what yet.

I’m really good at
Not much. I can ramble on for hours. I can sing very badly. I can probably scare your Mum. I read and type fast. I can make your PC work and correct your SPAG. I'm also pretty damn good at Tetris. I make my friends laugh quite easily. I'm never quite sure if they're laughing with me or at me.

The first things people usually notice about me
The fact I look like shit. Maybe that I'm listening to soul at eight in the morning on the bus.

People don't notice me in the main, I'm one of those that slips under the radar. I don't really mind. Cats are better anyway. :)

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: This is difficult. I consume books like some people consume dinners. I frequently steal books from libraries. Not on purpose, I just borrow them and then never get round to reading them. Luckily I have an understanding librarian. It makes me feel a bit guilty but when I check the tickets, lots of the books I read are never taken out/have only been taken out once in 1998, so it's all good. Maybe.

I gave them all back! I now have significantly less books, but a much clearer conscience. I haven't read a good book in a while.

I like books about people; that can be gritty, angsty, modern fiction, or studies or textbooks based around any portion of society. Names of people I like to read, in no particular order: Larkin, Woolf, Kant, Hughes, Bukowski, Fante, Marx, Pushkin, Brownmiller, Tolstoy, Ginsburg, Palahniuk, Joyce, Welsh. I also own a surprising amount of books about Fascism, which I only just noticed. Hmm. I guess it's interesting. I hope I'm not a closet Nazi. More of a case of know your enemy I think.

Films: One of my resolutions this year is to watch more films. I like gangster films, martial arts films and world cinema. My real love currently lies with low-budget horror. Yum. Anything arty and pretty, or with a really gripping storyline. I also like gore, violence and gross stuff in films. Some of my favourite films are The Godfather (one and two, not three, three's shit), Goodfellas, L.A. Confidential, Zombie Flesh Eaters, Night of the Living Dead, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Cannibal Holocaust, Jackie Brown and Atonement.

Music: It may well be my one true love tbh. Have a fat list: 30 Seconds To Mars, 65DaysOfStatic, A Perfect Circle, Abandoned Pools, Acid Bath, Acid Mother Temple, Adolescents, Air, Akira Yamaoka, Alanis Morisette, Alien Sex Fiend, American Head Charge, AMOK, Anathema, Ani DiFranco, Aoki Takamasa, Aphex Twin, Apoptygma Berzerk, Arab Strap, Arch Enemy, ArchGoat, Architecture In Helsinki, Art School, Asian Dub Foundation, Aura Noir, Autechre, AWOL One, Ayumi Hamasaki, Azam Ali, Babes In Toyland, Bad Brains, Bane, Baroque, Bathory, Bauhaus, Beat Happening, Beck, Behemoth, Bikini Kill, Bilskirnir, Bjork, Blasphemy, Blind Melon, Blur, Boards of Canada, Boris, Brand New, Broken Social Scene, Bulldozers, Burzum, Cage, Candylion, Carina Round, Cat Power, Celtic Frost, Cex, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Chemical Brothers, Chilli Peppers, Christian Death, Cibo Mato, Cinema Strange, Circle Jerks, Classical, Cock Sparrer, Coheed and Cambria, Collide, Converge, Countess, CowCube, Cryptopsy, Daedelus, Darkthrone, David Bowie, Dead Kennedys, Deftones, Destruction, Devendra Banhart, Dillinger Escape Plan, Dir En grey, Dizzee Rascal, DrudKH, Dubplates, Earth, East Flat Bush Project, EdIT, electro, Eliott Smith, Faint, Felix Da Housecat, Fenriz, Flipper, Fony, Fortet, Front 242, Futureheads, Gackt, Gehenna, Glassjaw, Glay, Gomez, Gorerotted, Gorillaz, Gossip, Graham Coxon, GRANDSCOPE, Graveland, Hardcore, Hellhammer, Helmet, Hendrix, Hisato Higuchi, Hole, Hot Cross, Iggy Pop, Ildjarn, Immortal, Incubus, Interpol, Jack Off Jill, Jefferson Airplane, John Zorn, Joy Division, Kano, Kasabian, Katastrophe Wife, Kate Bush, Kill.Kim.Novak, K's Choice, Le Tigre, Malleus Maleficaum, Mark Lanegan, Massive Attack, Mayhem, Meadow House, Meat Puppets, Mercyful Fate, Merzbow, Mew, Mindless Self Indulgence, Miocene, Miss Kittin, Mogwai, Morbid Angel, Moss Icon, Mr. Bungle, Nattefrost, Neutral Milk Hotel, Nine Inch Nails, Niyaz, Opeth, Orchid, Pavement, Peaches, Pelican, Pestilence, Pink Floyd, Pixies, PJ Harvey, Placebo, Portishead, Post office Gals, Premature Ejaculation, Propellerheads, Prostitute Disfigurement, Queens of the Stoneage, Queen Adreena, Radiohead, Regina Spektor, Rocketship, Roots Manuva, Royksopp, Rozz Williams, Saetia, Saronell, Sarcofago, Shystie, Skinny Puppy, Sleater Kinney, Smashing Pumpkins, Sodom, Sonic Youth, Spirit of Versailles, Squarepusher, Strapping Young Lad, Sugar Babydoll, Sugar Babylon, Surgeon, System of a Down, Taake, Teamsleep, Teenage Jesus and the Jerks, The Beatles, The Cribs, The Cure, The Distillers, The Faint, The Frankenorphans, The Germs, The Libertines, The Mars Volta, The Pastels, The Postal Service, The Saddest Landscape, The Smiths, The Vaselines, The Knife, Thrice, Tool, Tormentor, Tortoise, Toru Okada, Velvet Acid Christ, Venom, Veruca Salt, VNV Nation, Wiley, X Ray Spex, Xiu Xiu, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Yellow Bentines

I'm assuming you cba to read that, so genre-wise it's a bit like: electro, techno, ska, new wave, dub, punk, hardcore (HTID), the other type of hardcore, post-rock, folk, black metal, grunge, noise, twee, goth, riot grrl, post-punk and indie. My username on last.fm is boardsofcanada if you're still interested.

A funny thing happened and my computer got taken. I now have a laptop-sized music collection rather than a 100 gig one. Following that disaster, my taste seems to have reverted to anything pre 1990. A current obsession or four are; Neil Young, Aretha Franklin, James Brown and The Smiths.

Food: I don't know, most things. I eat loads. I like food that isn't good for me. Sweets and chips and cake. Not at the same time. I'm trying to learn to cook and even though I'm a greedy pig I still love veggies and pasta or rice. Simple pleasures eh? I need to eat less and get thinner. I binge a lot on food that is bad for me.

The six things I could never do without
Hmm.

1) The internet. You think I'm joking, hah.

2) Cigarettes. I've tried and failed, many, many times.

3) Friends. I hate being lonely. It drives me a bit mad. They may be spread out all over this island but they're all very important to me.

4) My Personal CD Player: My last mp3 player was stolen, I don't have a stereo any more, without my CD player I wouldn't survive. I love listening to whole albums again, it's refreshing. I'm going to try and buy more CDs next year off these sites on the internet that cut out the middle man, support the local music scene, it's important. I'd love to get an old record player and build up a record collection one day.

I dropped my CD player and to get the same one will now cost me three times as much; is it a sign of recession that more people are buying the fuckers or is it an underground save-the-music-industry conspiracy against the ipod generation? Who knows...

Either way I've got an mp3 player again now, and it's okay, but I'm still buying CDs.

5) The electromagnetic spectrum. World would be a strange place without it.

6)"Media". Words, music, films. Important stuff.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
How things work, though I usually don't get to a good conclusion because I'm not very logical or mathematically inclined. Body language and other people and what they're thinking. Poetry. Food. Class struggles. Cuddles. Computers and how to make them work better. How big things are; that's a good one. I find it difficult to comprehend how big Birmingham is, let alone the universe. It's scary and difficult but it's probably good to grapple with, no? Police and how I hate them but can't think of a really reliable alternative. Not that police are reliable. Also, I think about myself a lot but not in a conceited way, more in a worrying way because I'm scared people hate me.

On a typical Friday night I am
Sleeping. Munching. Meeting with friends maybe. Playing computer games or chatting online. If not I'm working behind the bar. Saturday nights I am usually working, start drinking at about 3am and stumble home at about 10am.. Sunday: I see my family and eat tasty food. Nothing beats Sunday dinner. :D Then I work. The rest of the week I'm either pouring drinks, cleaning a pub, or on the computer watching films or on the internet. As you can see, I have no life. To change this, message me. :D

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm addicted to the internet. I don't believe in Al-Qaeda. I've smoked since I was twelve. I have no idea what I'm doing with my life. I find it hard to trust people but I love making connections. I've got a wild past. I have many secrets.

Also OkCupid is nagging me to write my whole profile in Latin since I listed it as a language I know. It can fuck off. I still know how to conjugate my verbs, but that's about it. Porto, portas, portat..

I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 18–26
  • Located anywhere
  • For new friends, activity partners, long-distance penpals
You should message me if
You remember my old profile word for word. You want to pierce me for free, or give me a job, we have similar tastes, you're a
Communist, Anarchist or involved with far left politics, you want
to teach me guitar or how to read music or how to paint, or how to set up a web server and how to script in Ruby, you want to
dance, go to gigs, climb trees, cuddle, lie in the sun, bake cakes, take drugs, text at three in the morning, give me a piggyback, drink tea, write poetry, draw a comic, make
a film, help me destroy big corporations from the inside, make a
zine, put on a rave, you like the song my three adjectives come
from, want a good old natter or want to change my life.

I get loads of people saying stuff like "I agree with everything in this section rahrahrah" and then we never do any of this stuff. I'm
looking for do-ers, not thinkers, I know enough of them. That's why I'm always on the internet.

Don't message me if you just want to see my boobs or argue or want to shag me. If you think this song's an anthem:

Let's kill first the banker with his professional demeanour
Let's televise and broadcast the raping of kings
Let our crowds be fed on Tear-gas and plate-glass
'Cause a people united is a wonderful thing

Oh, don't be afraid, though the parade will not pass our way It's nobler to never get paid
Than to bank on shit and dismay

Plus ratio quam vis.
