My goal is to fill life with things I love, whether it's the
mission of my work, the music I hear and play, the travel I'm
dreaming about, or the friends I make.
I've been spending a lot of time building a spiritual practice
these days, doing a lot of meditation, mindfulness, and general
introspection. It's really meaningful to me to find someone that
shares a dedication to their particular path. Not in a heavy way,
but in a way that builds happiness and connectedness to the world
around us, ya know!?
What I’m doing with my life
Building a career in philanthropy and considering grad school to
Playing music in a few different bands, and writing my own music
Exploring great food stuffs in this here city.
Loving my friends.
I’m really good at
parking spot karma, riding bikes, singing harmonies, scratching the
travel itch, finding the restaurant we're going to tonight, turning
you on to new and awesome music/other things.
The first things people usually notice about me
my green/yellow eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Anything with a hook into my heart/brain, i.e. Salinger,
Garcia-Marquez, Safran Foer, Zadie Smith, Salman Rushdie, Junot
Diaz, Jonathan Lethem/Franzen, Teju Cole, Julie Orttinger, long but
super interesting articles in the New Yorker, Economist, etc.
Anything with soul, i.e. Amy Winehouse. John Legend, Nas/Damian
Marley, Lauryn Hill, Alicia Keys, Aretha Franklin, Blackstar, Kanye
(yeah I said it!), Marvin Gaye, Radiohead, Phoenix, Andrew Bird,
The Band, Van Morrison, Esbjorn Svensson Trio (jazzy soul), Paul
Anything on netflix, showtime or hbo, i.e. The Newsroom, Breaking
Bad, Game of Thrones, Homeland, Dexter. I don't often watch tv, but
when I do (think dos equis guy), I watch an entire series over a
few weeks, staying up till 5am, adrenaline pumping, like oh my god
will happen next-style, until the series is over or I'm completely
sleep deprived. Either way, #winning.
Anything spicy, authentic, or with booze on tap i.e. Tomoe, Lupa,
Momofuku Ssam, Rosemary's, Cafe Orlin, Mission Chinese, Barbossa,
anyplace with arepas, anyplace in flushing, or you tell me!
The six things I could never do without
friends who are like fam
a basketball court nearby
a mindfulness/meditation practice
I spend a lot of time thinking about
art and food.
also, how to connect people that should know and/or work with each
other, but just don't know it yet.
On a typical Friday night I am
out to a great restaurant, then hanging out with friends or making
new ones, at a bar, danceparty, or someone's place...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
i recently spent a night at a nudist hippie commune with hot
springs during a road trip from colorado down to new mexico.
Highlight: playing naked uno in a soaking pool as the sunset, with
waterproof cards. For the record, i was kicking (naked) ass.
You should message me if
you can have a compelling conversation about taste: books, music,
food, cities, whatever! I like people who know what they like and
can share good/new things...
