I am naked, fresh, and wiggly.

My Self-Summary

I'm probably not much like anyone you know. Or I'm a lot like someone you know in all sorts of ways but oh hey different in unexpected ways. I'm stealth weird and borderline wholesome. I'm body positive and sex positive. I'm smart, queer, progressive, kinky, questioning, zaftig, live. I love to dance, move, revel in sensory input and laugh. But don't think any of that tells you who I am.

I make meaning out of nothing just for shits and giggles.

I believe that people should have experiences. It's easy to get into a rut and not have experiences without seeking them out, and if you're not thinking about it, and you're not seeking them out, you may wake up one day and realize it's been a long time since you've had one. And then you'll have to make up for lost time!

Actually, making up for lost time rocks. I just prefer to skip the part where I lose it, first, if I can.

As you might imagine, I'm into adventures in a big way. I go out of my way to smell the roses, both literally and figuratively. I like to get my hands dirty and really dig into the things I enjoy.

But I don't tend to stick to any one thing for too long. I'm a generalist at heart, and though I'm a loyal friend and partner, I'm more likely to want to learn a new craft than spend years working to perfect my technique in an old one. I admire people who dedicate themselves to the intricacies of a particular focus, even while I find myself drawn by the novelty of something I've never tried.

Exception: cooking. Food represents so much to me, and cooking for myself and for my friends and family is an essential component of my life. I love putting out elaborate spreads of fancy food for a crowd or simple meals for a couple of friends.

I believe in personal transformation and try to practice it a little bit every day. Everyone should try being someone else sometime. There's nothing like it.

Incidentally, I've left "winks" on because I like to have my ego stroked, but if you actually want to hear back from me, a note with content is a much better bet.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm making the urban world safer for people and a little more annoying for cars, hacking social situations to see what happens when I make the world weirder for a few hours, and trying to save the world through the subtle manipulation of rules and expectations.

I'm also throwing dinner parties that have people talking about them years later, putting together the social equivalent of mentos and diet coke and seeing what happens, and licking snow off my porch railing when the opportunity arises.

I’m really good at

Listening, dancing, being in my body, honesty, having fun, being silly, being serious, and being shy.

I'm also really, really good at seeing the good in almost any experience, finding pleasure in things like I really mean it -- because I do. I'm a good host and I love making people welcome in my home. I throw a damn fine party.

The first things people usually notice about me

According to people I asked about this, my smile, laugh or hair. Later, they notice that I actually listen when they talk.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

For a long time, I included a painfully foreshortened list of my favorite producers of media here, but I've recently decided that I really don't care what the people around me like to read, see, or listen to, and I also don't see that listing my favorites of any category particularly provides a useful insight into who or how I am.

Suffice it to say that I read books, a lot of them, with a focus on speculative fiction, imaginative sci-fi and fantasy, and non-fiction, especially good personal essays and natural history. I read a few poets infrequently but with great attention, and I sometimes like to memorize poetry for fun.

I don't see a ton of movies, though I do like to, and I'm slowly catching up on all the pop culture I missed in my teens and 20s. I tend to want movies to entertain me first and edify me second or tenth. As such, I like action/adventure flicks, comedies, engaging dramas. I don't care much if it's "good" according to critics, but I do have to care about what happens to the characters. I definitely don't want to be depressed when I leave the theater.

I love music and have reasonably eclectic tastes in it. There's probably at least a song or two in every genre that I would like to listen to. But when I'm picking my own music, it depends on my mood. I almost always like peppy music, music in a minor key and textural music.

Now, food. I love food. Here, I'll list some of my favorites, but, really, good food can be found anywhere, and I love to share it with someone who can enjoy it as much as I do, whether it's a pile of rice and beans in a hole in the wall in Xela, Guatemala or a high-end meal at the French Laundry. Easy favorites: sushi, anything Asian, stews, creative, BBQ, spicy. Oh, and cheese. I have an unholy love of cheese.

The six things I could never do without

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The state of the world, our problems, and how to fix them. Kinky sex. What I want to be when I grow up.

On a typical Friday night I am

Tell me what typical means, again? I have a love-hate relationship with routine.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Looking wholesome is my superpower. Or so I'm told.

You should message me if

* You are awesome.
* You're smart, fun, witty, open to new things, slightly askew.
* You like amusement parks, adventures, dancing, and/or kinky sex.
* You'll get me to do more of any or all of the above.
* If you know cool shit about mycoremediation and/or permaculture, you should be writing me a message right now.
* You get hot for smart, gorgeous curvy chicks.
* You don't say, "Well, it wouldn't be very private if I posted it here," or anything along those lines in your most private thing you're willing to admit here section. Leave it blank or say something witty, for the love of all that's right in the world.
* Recently: You don't have any "key questions" specified, or, if you do, I've already answered them, because I refuse to answer a question simply for the privilege of emailing you, no matter how awesome you seem!
