I am witty, amusing, and quixotic.

My Self-Summary

There are many things I like to think I can do well and watching me fail with spectacular bravado provides endless hours of entertainment. (If you're going to go down, go down in flames!)

I've recently killed my Bonsai tree, unsuccessfully patched my jeans, perfected the art of beautifully blurry photography, and attempted stargazing with a telescope and no tripod (But I did hold it still just long enough to see Jupiter's moons!).

Don't let my moments of wonderful idiosyncrasies betray you. There are as many productive and successful moments as there are failings. They are, however, less entertainingly described.

What I’m doing with my life

Days find me taking a crack at making a living in the Post Production world of film and tv.

Travel is something I miss and I've made promises to visit friends in New York, New Mexico and San Francisco and I'd like to start doing that with my life.

I’m really good at

Amusing myself. Honestly, that's my metric of comedy. If I'm amused, then I've succeeded. This does not make for a very high bar.

I've also begun perfecting the art of abusing adjectives. This hobby may well be a spectacular failure. It remains to be seen.

Oh, and exclamation points. I've been beating the hell out of them, too!

The first things people usually notice about me

Having not been other people very often, I'm unsure how to answer this.

Most people tell me I'm too serious and I should smile more. Those who really know me find this wonderfully ironic.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

A large majority of my reading of late have been news articles from any variety of sources. A shame since I do very much enjoy reading fiction. I'm very open to suggestions on what, in your opinion, I absolutely MUST read!

I'm a lover of the simple foods. A good burger, a red steak, thick pizza, deep fried chicken, strawberry ice cream, krispy kreme (hot now), watermelon, pasta marinara (Tada rocks!), Annie's shells and cheese (the green box is damn near impossible to find), orange chicken, and a costco hot dog.

My music taste seems to have suffered a blow of late. I know far too little of more modern music. So, in no particular order: Pearl Jam, Radiohead, The White Stripes, Fiona Apple, The Who, Smashing Pumpkins, The Hives, The Strokes, Rage Against the Machine, Foo Fighters, The Ramones, Pretty Girls Make Graves, The Rolling Stones, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Squirrel Nut Zippers, The Beatles, Aerosmith, Bright Eyes, The Raconteurs, Weezer.

Film is different as I try to stay very modern, but have a horrible memory for titles. I also tend to enjoy most everything by good director, so instead of throwing out names, I'll throw out my favorite by a variety of directors: Throne of Blood, Annie Hall, Dr. Strangelove, Punch Drunk Love, Panic Room, White (I seem to be the only one that liked it more than Red or Blue), The Godfather, Sleepy Hollow, The Fountain, Memento (though, The Dark Knight may well take its place as my favorite Nolan), Monsters Inc (substitute Pixar for director here), Beauty and the Beast (likewise with Disney), Raiders of the Lost Arc, Hunt for Red October, Zombieland, Let The Right One In, The Hurt Locker, Spirited Away, The Royal Tenenbaums (and I expect Fantastic Mr Fox to take over as the favorite), Where the Wild Things Are (VERY close call with Being John Malkovitch), Three Kings, Gangs of New York. ...and so very many others I'm forgetting. If there's something here that you're thinking "I can't believe you haven't seen *movie*!" Tell me. I'll watch damn near anything.

Oh! Rope! A perfect example of Hitchcock being not quite firing-with-all-pistons-Hitchcock (That'd be Notorious), but still a masterstroke.

The six things I could never do without

Ask me a year ago and I would have said Churro's, but I haven't had a churro in… well… almost a year.

This is much too much of a moving target and I have no idea how to balance the physical with the philosophical. But here's a crack at it anyway.

Milk
Film (feel free to comment on how absurdly vague that is)
My computer/iPhone
Dr Pepper (I'd live off Dublin's if I could afford it)
Someone to laugh at/with me
A great pillow!

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Oh, so very much. I'll give good thought to damn near anything that comes across my nose.

Just recently, I spent my entire commute arguing with myself about Corporal Punishment.

On a typical Friday night I am

The majority of my nights find me either at home, drinking with roommates and watching a hell of a film (or TV show (Breaking Bad, where are you?!)) or over at a friends house talking about nothing until much too late.

I'm typically NOT at a club or someplace equally trendy. Midnight screenings also don't appeal. Too much obnoxiousness. But promise me steak for dinner and I'll follow you anywhere else that night.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I have never had pie. The texture just looks unappealing. Not terribly private, but certainly odd.

You should message me if

You should be someone to whom I sound not only amusing, but delightful; willing to indulge my moments of windmill tilting.

One must be able to laugh at oneself, otherwise life would be quite dreary.
