My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hello Hello :) I am a fun, quirky, intuitive, geek-proud, proactive, whovian, woman who does her best to strike a balance between my three passions in life: activism, being creative (art, photography, music, writing), and spirituality** (aka: Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth).

A balance between being easily amused & silly (I own a bubble gun) with having intelligent discussions & debates taking responsibility for my existence.

I am an out and proud bisexual* woman (no, I'm not into threesomes.) who is looking to find a kindred spirit who knows how to love/be loved, is good at mindful communication and shares my passions in life.

I'm looking for a person who believes friendship is the foundation for any romantic relationship, and who is comfortable in their own skin.

I am looking for a partner who is my equal.

I'm not really into the "I'm definitely 24/7 femme or 24/7 butch" thing. I go with my mood and do not create rules regarding gender for myself.

Extra points if you're a fellow vegan (cus that's sexy)

Extra Extra points if you feel that gender roles (opposed to one's sex) is just a bunch of man-made crap, based on the private bits we were born with, which not only makes 0 sense, but is a huge detriment to the welfare of human beings.

Extra Extra EXTRA points if you're in a wheelchair because then we can race. (no ableism allowed)

Being proactive and reliable is a must.

P.S. OKC asked me to pick an age range, so I did but it's not it stone.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Really involved in activism (occupy wall street and other movements - another world IS possible) and volunteer as a photographer.

I've organized a variety of activist campaigns, for about 4 months after the hurricane, I ran a small vegan disaster relief kitchen (part time) that cooked meals for those in need due to hurricane sandy and/or for the workers/volunteers providing the disaster relief. I made a documentary about that.

Most recently, I finished a musical and have started my own DIY cooking show.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
amusing myself, being creative, making the best of what I have, figuring out solutions to problems, seeing the bigger picture, enjoying the simple moments in life, coming up with subversive protest/performance art ideas, and giving hugs (love hugs)

I've also been told I'm good at making people feel validated and comfortable in their feelings (and understanding where they are coming from/ sincere compassion.

People seem to like my cooking too :)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I guess it depends on the person and what things they notice first.

People tend to notice when I eat, that I eat really healthy (and tasty) things.

My friends say they notice my smile (yes, I asked lol. This section stumped me lol). Some notice Betty (my motorized wheelchair of great awesomeness) because she is decorated and very arsty looking #rideinstyle.

Some people notice Betty first because they rarely see a person in a wheelchair and I become this novelty to gawk at. On a related note, please read this before contacting me. Ableism is a dealbreaker and huge turn off.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

BOOKS: There are 4 authors that have had a huge impact on my life.

Eckhart Tolle, Sherry Wolf (though I suppose really Karl Marx as she was just breaking down what he said. I'm not a marxist socialist, but the idea that all oppression is connected, radically changed the way I view the world.) Howard Zinn and Nietzsche (though with Nietzsche it was more reading about the concept of free-will then his other writings. I have still yet to get through Thus Spoke Zarathustra)

I also like graphic novels. Oh, and I also dig Charles Bukowski. Other then that, I really enjoy reading non-fiction.

MUSIC: it varies per mood but off the top of my head (and in no particular order)...

Janelle Monae, Erykah Badu, ray lamontagne, system of a down, damien rice, janis joplin, fiona apple, dave matthews band, the beatles, bob dylan, regina spektor, brandi carlile, kate nash, kimya dawson, conor oberst, esperanza spalding charles mingus, swing, blues, doo-wop/motown, classical, classic rock, old school metal, hip hop that's intelligent/from the heart, jazz, and so much more. Way too many to list here. I LOVE music.

MOVIES/TV: I don't own a TV but I do have hulu. I have a thing for documentaries, travel and cooking shows and doctor who. Love Doctor Who. I own the 9th doctor's sonic screwdriver (merchandise).

Favorite movies that come to mind (though not in any particular order of importance): Truman Show, Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind, Eyes Wide Open, Milk,Pleasantville, Being John Malkovich, Vegucated and more. I also love a good musical : Hair, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Chorus Line, Cabaret, Jesus Christ Superstar, Into The Woods and some of the older musicals like There's No Business Like Show Business. I am not a huge fan of action/adventure films unless it's more of the intelligent or geek/nerd variety like XMen or something where it has a plot and isn't just explosions for the sake of explosions. Other then that - cartoons. Love cartoons.

FOOD: I tend to eat really healthy but will ask to smell your meal if you're not lol. The smell of freshly baked warm Italian bread makes me smile.

I'm 100% Vegan. I have friends of all kinds, but I'd really like to date someone who is Vegan or willing to be Vegan. It's not that the person I date has to agree with all of my views, but being vegan is a big part of my life philosophy, and I'd like to be able to share that I would like to share with my partner. That and the sight of meat just makes me nauseous, so that would be an issue. Especially since I wouldn't want to kiss a person after they ate meat.

Extra points if you love to experiment in the kitchen! LOVE to cook and come up with new recipes.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
not in order of importance.

the balance of community & solitude
creativity
activism
self care
music
sunshine
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
new recipes for my online cooking show, painting (though more in the winter), new places to explore, activism, music, reading, writing, photography, cryptozoology (well okay, I don't spend A LOT of time thinking about that, but I am fascinated by it), spirituality, oppression, activism, and of course people I care about.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
It depends on the season, weather and my mood. I am a pretty low key person in that I am not one to hang out in bars these days. Sometimes I am with friends. Sometimes I am going solo. Sometimes I am chilling out at home, sometimes I hang out in a park, or at a protest. I pretty much just go with the flow. I am more an early riser then a night owl :)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've come to the conclusion, that while I am pretty flexible, certain things need to be there in a relationship in order for it work. I need to be with a person who understands my need to create, my love/need to be involved in activism, and my need/love for spirituality/self care. In the past, previous partners didn't get that, and it was always an issue. I also need to be with someone who is mindful in their communication.

if you have a passion for activism, and/or creativity and/or spirituality. (extra points if you have points for all 3)

if you're a genuinely nice person (not to be confused with a doormat) who believes in being honest/upfront with people and expects the same.

if you have no problem being friends with people regardless of their sex.

If you're not afraid to be true to who you are, even if that means going against the grain
