update: just looking to meet some kindred spirits on here

Hello Hello :) I am a fun, quirky, intuitive, geek-proud, proactive woman who does her best to strike a balance between my three passions in life: activism, being creative* and spirituality**

*art, photography, music, writing and more
**aka: meditation and self care. Eckhart Tolle's book A New Earth was also a big influence

A balance between being easily amused & silly (I own a bubble gun, and often laugh at my own jokes) with having intelligent discussions & taking responsibility for my existence.

I am an out and proud bisexual* woman who is looking to find a kindred spirit who knows how to love/be loved, is good at mindful communication and shares my passions in life (or at least has a passion of their own.)

* #assumenothing #LoveIsAboutTheSoul #goofyhaircut ;)

I'm looking for a person who believes friendship is the foundation for any romantic relationship, and who is comfortable in their own skin.

I am looking for a partner who is my equal.

Extra points if you're a fellow vegan (cus that's sexy)

Extra Extra points if you feel that gender roles (opposed to one's sex) is just a bunch of man-made crap, based on the private bits we were born with, which not only makes 0 sense, but is a huge detriment to the welfare of human beings.

Extra Extra EXTRA points if you're in a wheelchair because then we can race. (just say no to ableism. )

P.S. OKC asked me to pick an age range, so I did but it's not it stone.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Trying to change the world via creativity and activism. Involved in a variety of movements but the ones that usually get the most of my time and attention are Occupy Wall Street and Animal Rights .

I've organized a variety of activist campaigns. For about 4 months after the hurricane (sandy), I ran a small vegan disaster relief kitchen (part time) that cooked meals for those in need due to the storm and/or for the workers/volunteers providing the disaster relief. I made a documentary about that.

Most recently, I finished a musical and have started my own DIY cooking show.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
- amusing myself
- making the best of what I have
- figuring out solutions to problems
- seeing the bigger picture
- enjoying the simple moments in life
- coming up with creative ideas
- giving hugs (my friends and I are a huggy bunch lol, though I respect if a person isn't)
- Empathy

People seem to like my cooking too :)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I guess it depends on the person and what things they notice first.

People tend to notice that I eat really healthy things. (I like my salads *shrug* :) )

My friends say they notice my smile (yes, I asked lol. This section stumped me lol). Some notice Betty (my motorized wheelchair of great awesomeness) because she is decorated and very arsty looking #rideinstyle.

Some people notice Betty first because they rarely see a person in a wheelchair and I become this novelty to gawk at. On a related note, please refrain from gawking. Kindly read this before contacting me. Ableism is a dealbreaker and huge turn off.

BOOKS: There are 4 authors that have had a huge impact on my life. (Not in any order of importance)

- Eckhart Tolle: as his book taught me the importance of meditation and self care
- Sherry Wolf: Though I suppose really Karl Marx as she was just breaking down what he said. I'm not a Marxist Socialist, but the idea that "all oppression is connected", radically changed the way I view the world.
- Howard Zinn taught me the real history (which was quite different from what I learned in school.
- Nietzsche : Though with Nietzsche it was more reading about the concept of free-will then his other writings. I have still yet to get through Thus Spoke Zarathustra)

I also like graphic novels and poetry, but these days, I mostly read non-fiction.

I love the warmer weather because then I get to read in the park.

MUSIC: it varies per mood but off the top of my head (and in no particular order nor is this a complete list)...

Patti Smith | Erykah Badu | Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros | Janelle Monae | Ray LaMontagne | System of a Down | Damien Rice | Janis Joplin | Fiona Apple | Dave Matthews Band | The Beatles | Bob Dylan | Brandi Carlile | Kate Nash | Kimya Dawson | Conor Oberst | Esperanza Spalding | Regina Spektor | Charles Mingus

plus: Swing, Blues, Doo-wop / Motown, Classical, Classic Rock, Old School Metal, Hip Hop, Jazz, and so much more. Way too many to list here. Music is a huge part of my life.

TV: I don't own a TV but I do have hulu. I mostly watch:
Travel Shows
Cooking shows
Doctor Who. (Love Doctor Who. I own the 9th doctor's sonic screwdriver (merchandise) and a Doctor Who Tardis Dress. I am a geek and I make no apologies for it ;)

MOVIES Favorite movies that come to mind (though not in any particular order of importance):
Truman Show
Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind
Eyes Wide Open
Being John Malkovich
and more.

I also love a good musical: Hair, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Chorus Line, Cabaret, Jesus Christ Superstar, Into The Woods and more.

I am not a huge fan of action/adventure films unless it's more of the intelligent or geek/nerd variety like XMen or something where it has a plot and isn't just explosions for the sake of explosions. Also down with cartoons.

FOOD: I tend to eat really healthy but will ask to smell your meal if you're not lol.

I'm 100% Vegan. I have friends of all kinds, but I'd really like to date someone who is Vegan or willing to be Vegan.

It's not that the person I date has to agree with all of my views, but being vegan is a big part of my life philosophy, so ideally I'd like to be able to share that with my partner.

Extra points if you love to experiment in the kitchen! LOVE to be all mad scientist in the kitchen and come up with new recipes. (Or at least you're willing to try my creations and let me know how it tastes.)
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
not in order of importance.

*the balance of community & solitude
*self care
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
- new recipes for my online cooking show,
- new places to explore and photograph
- activism
- music
- creative projects
- self-care / spirituality
- oppression,
- and people I care about
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
If you're looking for someone to go to bars/clubs till 3am, am I your gal? Not so much lol

That being said, I don't have a typical night. Maybe I am chilling out with my friends. Maybe I am reading, writing, creating, dancing my butt off in my apartment. I might be at a protest or just wondering around the city with peoples if it's nice out.

I pretty much just go with the flow. I am more a morning/afternoon pigeon then a night owl :)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm currently in the process of figuring out what exactly I need in a partner. Obviously, the basics good communication skills, similar core values/philosophies, but as a queer (bi) gal who is a dedicated activist, artist/writer, vegan in a wheelchair, I am trying to figure out how many of those attributes also need to exist in my partner. I used to think all these things need to exist, but as I get older, I am finding out what's really important and what really isn't necessary.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
If you have something you feel passionate about in your life.

if you're a genuinely nice person (not to be confused with a doormat) who believes in being honest/upfront with people and expects the same.

if you have no problem being friends with people regardless of their sex.

If you're not afraid to be true to who you are, even if that means going against the grain.

If you feel that one's job, one's income, one's material possessions etc. does not define a person's worth.

If you're mindful, vegan (or vegan curious), nerdy, creative, and want to make the world a more awesome place for people
