My self-summary
How can I write a summary of myself? Not that easy. Well I guess I can start with a warning: I'm a geek. Now that that's out, I'm also a chemist (not a pharmacist, though, much scarier - a scientist!). If these things aren't gonna make you run away, I guess that's a start...
I am an Israeli, born and raised, and I love my country. High school was in a kibbutz, IDF service was pretty fucking great. Then I got a first degree (Chemistry) in Be'er Sheva and a second one (Organic Chemistry) in Tel Aviv.
I really love animals. Animals are a must in my life. Be warned...
What I’m doing with my life
Working at InSight Biopharmaceuticals (a biotech company) in analytical R&D. And also trying to have some fun, I guess...
I’m really good at
Chemistry.
Computers.
Geekiness.
More stuff, to be disclosed later...
"I can't trap a mouse, but I can pat a cat,
No, I'm really serious, I'm really very good at that."
(Extra points will be granted to those who recognize this bit).
The first things people usually notice about me
I have no idea, you'd have to ask people...
Actually, come to think of it, most people think I look younger than I really am. I'll go with that :)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Ooh, that's gonna be a long one!
Books - I absolutely LOVE Ian McEwan books (read almost all of them), I really like Paul Auster and Stephen King is great. Of course being a geek, I really like Fantasia - Tolkien (Lord of the Rings as the most famous, but actually there are better) and Martin (A Song of Ice and Fire - the HBO series Game of Thrones, rings a bell? Well the books are much better), and Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickmann (Dragonlance as the best and most famous example, but again, they wrote better books too).
TV - Black Mirror, Boardwalk Empire, Boston Legal, Breaking Bad, Dexter, Orange is the New Black, Oz, Rome, Six Feet Under, The Borgias, The Shield, The Sopranos, The Walking Dead, The Wire, The X Files.
Comedies - Coupling (the british one), Fawlty Towers, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Seinfeld, The Big Bang Theory.
Geeky - Battlestar Galactica, Caprica, Star Trek, Stargate.
Music - Rock, mostly, especially classic rock. Pink Floyd are the best, but I also love Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Deep Purple, Janis Joplin, Rush, The Who and more, those are the oldies. Also Amanda (Fucking) Palmer, Dream Theater, Muse, Symphony X, Rammstien and more.
Food - I don't know, whatever seems tasty :)
Movies - American History X, The Big Lebowski, Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan, Intouchables, Monty Python's Movies (We are the knights who say Nee!!!), Lesley Nielsen Movies and more, of course...
I think that's enough for now, kudos if you actually read it all...
The six things I could never do without
Well probably food, water, oxygen... :)
But really, computer, music, friends, TV shows, (European) football (FC Barcelona in particular) and science.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Quantum mechanics (just as an interesting topic), organic chemistry, TV shows, geeky stuff which include D&D and other geeky games (Magic: The Gathering for instance)...
Lately I also think a lot about chromatography, HPLC and especially UPLC. I know you don't know what these things are, believe me, you're better off that way.
On a typical Friday night I am
Actually I'm not that active on Friday. Thursday and Saturday, however - that's a whole different thing.
