A) I volunteer at the National Zoo. I can show you a sloth. Well, maybe. She's got more years being a sloth (48) than I do of finding her (2).
B) Grad school. Maybe one of these days I'll be a real public health official. Or whatever you call someone with an MPH.
C) Working at a private university, just for kicks (and tuition benefits).
D) I'm on a big hobby kick. In a city of suits and key cards, it's rare to find someone with ambition outside the office. I bike, practice capoeira, and I'm working on picking up photography. Oh, and I'm training for a marathon. That was mostly a mistake, but I hope to follow through.
E) My pet project is rancing. >http://rancewith.us It's a combination of running and dancing, and if you think that sounds awesome, we'll get along fine. If not, no worries. It's not everyone's cup of tea.
I'm very, very competitive, so it's kind of a shame that I'm not very good at things you can compete at.
I'm good at spelling. That's a big one for me. I can't really compete in this one (not since middle school), but I'll be damned if I'm going to let a misspelled word get past me.
I really like grammar, too. Now, before any of you jump down my throat for a misplaced comma, I'd just like to say that there is room in grammar for style. I know the rules; I just like to bend them.
I'm good at learning languages. Give me three months and a passport and I'll come back conversational in something you've never heard of. Go ahead: Ask me what that "other" language in "My details" is.
I really enjoy turning everyday things into games, including but not limited to:
- Avoiding puddles on the sidewalk
- NOT avoiding crunchy leaves on the sidewalk
- Trading compliments with a friend
- Making up stupid things for a list of things I'm really good at.
