My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Cleveland Park native ISO similarly-minded urban mate.

About me: I'm strong and independent, but those who get to know me discover thoughtful and even sweet. I'm a natural blonde with blue eyes; 5'10" in heels. Yoga keeps me limber. Walking and weight lifting keeps me slim and strong. I am passionate and bold, but enjoy a man who is comfortable taking the lead. I love to be outside. I enjoy boating, hiking, fishing, golf, swimming, skiing, picnics, outdoor cafes, bonfires, hammocks and my convertible. I sleep with the windows open.

I live downtown, a couple of blocks from shops, restaurants, and the metro. I like walking places. I've lived abroad, and I raised my children in the suburbs (Bethesda). I'm happy to be back in the city.

I'll have a lot in common with an urban professional of similar age, a post-graduate degree, an engaging career in the social sciences (e.g. law, policy, economics, regulation... but not politics), broad foreign travel, a passion for good food, wine and craft beer, warm relationships with friends and family, financial security, and a spirited interest in adventure.

Like me, a promising partner would have graduated any progeny up and out (or be close). Attractive traits: confident, articulate, social, stable, tall, playful, a little zen, and with a dry sense of humor. Bonus points for the ability to entertain a hypothetical, argue in the alternative, make logical inferences, and learn by analogy. Broaden my horizons and teach me something new!

Mea culpa: with some reluctance, but for pragmatic reasons, I've lowered the age statistic on my profile by two years. The good news is that this gives you a get-out-of-jail-free card for one or two admissions of your own, or a basis to feel really good about your honesty.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I fill many shoes but they're all comfortable. I'm a boss and a bureaucrat (love my work, which is at the intersection of economics, law, and management), a mom (2 kids in college), a sister, a daughter, an aunt, a grand-daughter (close family nearby), a neighbor (love my neighborhood), and a friend (friends are so important!).
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm good at figuring stuff out and getting stuff done (so that I can relax without guilt). I'm a good cook. I grow tasty mint and tomatoes. I'm quite expert at finding and appreciating small pleasures.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Food: quality ingredients prepared with creativity and skill. Belgian and craft beers (just discovered sour Flemish ales - oh, yum!), wine (not a wine snob).

Music: Chris Smither, David Gray, Beck, Leah Andreone, Lucinda Williams, Carrie Newcomer ... + classic rock radio.

Movies/TV: dramas, comedies, foreign flicks, action - I skip movies with gore and depressing endings. I don't watch much TV; enjoyed Sherlock, The Wire, Breaking Bad.

Books/news: currently reading John Irving's "A Widow For A Year"; recently read Eckhart Tolle's "The Power of Now" and Lynn Cullen's "Mrs. Poe", and just ordered Esther Perel's "Mating in Captivity" (great TED talk!). Washington Post and The Week.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My family's love
Playful sarcasm
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Mindfulness and staying in the present moment, reminding myself that there are no problems, only situations, and making sure that I am not so busy getting to the future that the present is reduced to a means of getting there.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
cuddled up with a bowl of pasta, or a steak, and a glass of wine on the sofa with a movie. On Saturday night, I like to be doing something with friends - dinner, music, movie...
