My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
im periodically grinding away at my previous okcupid profile, trying to decide between humor and brevity in an attempt to make it a little less obtuse and make myself sound a little less like an insufferable nihilist (no offense nihilists!). let us begin:

im was spawned and cut my teeth in the hyper-violent, ultra-depressed mid-michigan city of saginaw and moved to the great, shining borough of cleveland going on 5 years ago.

currently, i live in a falling-apart house with a choice-ass dude in the slummy side of a real cool spot to spend some money if you from parma.

for money, i do fundraising work for a certain environmental advocacy group under whose employ im sure you or someone you know has been. i like it a lot and try not to be too much of a zealot about it but come on, its the environment.

my turn-ons include but are not limited to: cigarettes, whiskey, transcendence, malt liquor, garlic, sarcasm, obscenity, dadaism, hard work, beards, depression, desperation, curry, hard-living, panic, androgyny, existentialism, jokes, hip hop, gravity, coffee, the smell of sweat, sensationalism, earthy scents, nothing.

turn-offs include (but are most definitely not limited to): idolatry, apostrophes, pretension, back-patting, light cigarettes, vanity, wastes of time, making sense of things, gravitas, gimmicks, and the human animal.

im looking to track down people with whom to cast off the burden of the common and maybe, just maybe become something apart from ordinary squalor and embrace the horror of the human experience.

i also like to paint with ink and watercolor but everyones an artist anymore so whatever.

I am fatalist, idle, and self-deprecating.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
"as little as possible."
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
repeating the same story over and over again whether you want to hear it or not.

being in a band called DRUG FRENZY.

also, im really great at cooking a meal using everything in the refrigerator thats about to become non-food. probably mostly curries.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
i guess my beard is pretty hard to miss as is the fact that i look sad or upset all the time.

online, i tend to get mention of my lack of capitalization and sparse use of punctuation.

books: most of what the books ive been reading the past few months have been alternative comics. a lot of straightforward fiction bores the hell out of me but im really stuck on william s. burroughs, henry miller, charles bukowski, ee cummings, charles forte, john hodgman, h.p. lovecraft, robert anton wilson, carl sagan.

i also really like terribly in-depth non-fiction, science journals, nature guides and collections of paranormal case studies (as for the last one, i dont believe in visitors from outer space or sea monsters. i just like to think about what people actually saw or the leaps of fancy peoples unconscious minds take when faced with something unfamiliar; fiction is fun).

movies: psychological horror, comedies heavy on the dick jokes, documentaries, anything pretty-looking or conceptually challenging. anything thats not a outright romantic comedy. i really like david lynch, frank henenloter, alejandro jodorowski, david cronenberg, akira kurosawa, paul verhoeven, harmony korine, werner herzog and tim burton.

also, i guess its kind of lame to say that i have stacks of awful 80s horror-themed anime on vhs but i do. if it says 'intense graphic violence' on the back, im a sucker.

i also waste a lot of time on the xfiles, arrested development, star trek: the next generation and twin peaks. also, i know way, way, way too much about star wars.

i guess all of this means ill pretty much watch anything.

music: i like all music except contemporary country/pop and some radio rap. specifically, i like doom/drone metal, sad acoustic singers, psychedelic electronica, hiphop about actual topics and really anything that sounds weird.

even more specifically, here is a huge list of what ive been listening to lately (in alphabetical order) that you will never read: acid bath, aesop rock, antony and the johnsons, argentinum astrum, atari teenage riot, beak>, beck, birchville cat motel, the black angels, black moth super rainbow, black sabbath, bob dylan, bonnie "prince billy", boris, bright eyes, butthole surfers, cannibal ox, charles manson, crass, cursive, dalek, danielson famile, the dead c, deadboy and the elephant men, electric wizard, elliott smith, el-p, the get up kids, godspeed you black emperor, the good life, khanate, loops haunt, madvillain, the mars volta, mc paul barman, the microphones, mike patton, the mountain goats, my bloody valentine, nick cave and the bad seeds, the notorious big, parenthetical girls, pelican, portishead, quasimoto, shrine builder, sleep, spacemen 3, sunn0)), swans, tom waits, tricky, white zombie, why?, wolf eyes, woody guthrie, xiu xiu.

oh, and a whole lot of npr. radiolab, in particular.

food: anything once i put sriracha on it.

honestly, my favorite thing on earth is to have people over to listen to or play music or watch movies and to cook for them. nothing in my life looks as good as an empty sauce pan soaking in the sink.

Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
lately im listening to hiphop or doom metal and painting. otherwise, im probably at a house show or hosting one or sitting by a fire in the back yard.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
once while drunk, i was pissing and burned my cock with a cigarette.
