My self-summary
I sold my car! My primary mode of transportation is now my antique Bridgestone road bike, made in Tokyo, complete with 1960s bad translation from Japanese: "Guaranteed World Best Bicycle Precision Mechanism!"

In February of 2012, I finished a job as an Assistant Director and Camera Operator on a documentary film"American Autumn" that premiered globally June 28th in NYC at Indie Screen. It is currently available as a pay-what-you-want DVD copy at Occudoc.org.

"Some day you and I will be dead, and this place we call home will be torn to the ground to make room for a new set of lives, but until then, let's have some fun." -Ze Frank

I was living between DC and NYC from October till January 2011.
I'm living in Portland, Maine now. I play bass in the rock band Theodore Treehouse, and write Jazz music for Pastel Sound Explosion.

If you want to meet up with me, check Occupy Wall Street. I've been keeping the road warm bouncing between my homestate of Maine and NYC.

I enjoy life.
My profile is a mess.

So here's the thing: I signed up for this when this was still Sparknotes.com (a website with fake quizzes and real cribnotes for cheating on tests) and OkCupid was just ONE of the many quizzes. So I've been a member of this site since I was like 17. I've had 4 deep and meaningful long term relationships since then, and only one of them was through this site.

I don't want a fling, I don't want a hookup. Finding a partner is not on my priority list. I want deep and meaningful relationships. I would rather have a deep friendship than a shallow relationship.

I enjoy gardening, and will grow/forage a portion of my food no matter where I live. In West Cleveland, I grew potatoes on my windowsill. In Dallas, I grew fresh cantaloupe in a compost pile. In Maine, I grow potatoes in the front yard, along with a lot of other delicious stuff.

When I was a little kid, I would tell people I wanted to be a scientist when I grew up. I read books and magazines on microbiology, astronomy, and theoretical physics for fun-- as a kid. How did I end up being a musician?

I love languages, and codes. I know a few languages, and speak them to varying degrees. If you are a native speaker of something other than English, and wouldn't mind helping me learn, message me.

I feel like I'm always on the cusp of what's to come, but never quite arriving. I spread myself too thin.

I am a musician, factory worker, citizen journalist, composer, videographer, internet politico, and would like to be... an Environmental lawyer maybe?

I worked as an intern on Dennis Kucinich (pronounced Koo-SIN-itch)'s presidential run in 2007-08. I dropped everything in my life for this guy nobody has heard of-- why? A lot of really good reasons. Ask me about it. I love talking politics. With Kucinich's presidential campaign I got to travel the country, organize fundraisers, talk to celebrities like they were real people, speak to people from all walks of life, and see the American political machinations from inside. I also got to meet my political superheroes, like Ex-CIA intelligence analyst Ray McGovern, Amy Goodman, Ralph Nader, Dennis Kucinich (of course), Mike Gravel, and others-- and yes, I took their autographs down in my pocket US Constitution. (NERD ALERT)

I've been to 31 states in the contiguous USA, and 4 Provinces of Canada. I consider myself having lived in 8 of those states. I've not been beyond the edge of the North American continental shelf yet. I would like to someday, either by boat, or by airplane. By boat would be more of an adventure.

I have an online persona as the Punk Patriot. I'm a leftist pundit. I say things to try and stir up debate. I even make a little money doing it. You are allowed to think this is incredibly dorky. I agree.

I love books. I have two large bookshelves that are entirely filled with books, and I have read probably 80% of them. The rest I either keep as reference, am in the middle of reading, or plan to get around to reading later. By my bed I always seem to have a stack of 3-7 books that I'm in the middle of reading.
Why do I love books?
Authors have to live their entire lives to get the experiences and knowlege to write their books, and you can get an entire lifetime of accumulated knowledge, wisdom, and experience in just a few hours. What a bargain!

I believe in Science. I approach all other religions (including Christianity) from a Taoist perspective. I like good ideas. I would describe myself as Taoist even though I'm a confirmed Catholic. I think Jesus had some pragmatic ideas when it came to social organizing. I also like that Jesus kept telling his followers to focus only on improving themselves. It's bizarre that so many "Christians" today focus on trying to "improve" other people-- often for the worse.

I'm firm believer that our goal in life must be to maximize the happy.

I like to intellectually challenge others, and I like for others to intellectually challenge me. Challenging and examining one's currently held ideas is the only way that growth is possible, and I'm passionately in support of the growth and evolution. I find critical thinking skills, and intelligence are both super attractive.

I'm 6'4", which is only a little bit tall for a guy, but it's very tall for a woman-- which is too bad, because I wish more women were near my height. Why? Long arms make for amazing hugs, and I enjoy both giving and receiving amazing hugs. I also don't like having to bend down to hug people. And yet, for friends and grandmothers, I do.

As a musician, I love music. I don't worry about genres. Like Duke Ellington, I believe there are two kinds of music, the good kind, and the other kind.

I don't know which group I find most annoying: people who are certain that God doesn't exist, people who are certain that God *does* exist.

My two biggest heroes of political philosophy currently are Ralph Nader and Vaclav Havel. In light of that, I guess I'm a Democratic Socialist.

There is nothing in this world that does not affect you and there is nothing in this world that you cannot affect. The future is always our blank canvas on which to paint our intentions and vision. This only stops being true the moment you give up. Live your life as such and you can achieve anything.

Everyone should start consciously participating in life! Not just some of the time. All the time. We must always be listening, and looking and interacting with everything around us, always be paying attention.

Regardez. Prêtez L'Attention.

Quand vous vivez, vivez consciemment. Tous les temps!

Seriously though-- right now I'm working to revoke BP's corporate charter (nonprofit dissolved), trying to finally graduate college (done!), release an full length studio album, release a second full length studio album (on to the third now!), make the Maine Green Party a viable political party, and get a job with healthcare benefits.
I’m really good at
As a huge fan of knowledge, I like to learn as much as possible about as much as possible. I generally know just enough to really ruin whatever it is I'm working on.

Two things that stand out, however are:

1) Debate. I was on my high school debate team for two years in a row. It was great fun. Critical thinking is a great skill to have.

2) Music. I'm a composer. I have twice put together a 33 Member Orchestra. It's a lot of work, so I haven't done it a third time. As a bassist, I play a lot of random jazz gigs.
I'm also in a band called "Theodore Treehouse. We all like music. We don't know what genre we are.

J'aime l'intelligence, et je veux savoir tous les choses, mais je sais seulment que je peux, parce que je veux savoir trop plus.

Alors, je suis pas assez bon à n'importe quelle chose.
The first things people usually notice about me
That I have a shiny cape and fly around. I think this means I'm supposed to be a superhero. Being a superhero is far too much work, so I prefer to pee on people and then fly away before they notice.*

Or it could be that I'm sort of tall... and often they remind me of it in case I've forgot, by saying "My, you're tall!" But it's usually only after I stand up, and I seem to meet most people sitting down. Maybe that's my true superpower.

*Not actually true.

(d) Tasty movin' squigglys!
I do eat: Organic free-range meats. Stuff that grows in my garden. Everything that isn't on the next list.
I don't eat: pork, most seafood, and avoid meat that isn't ethically raised like it's the downfall of functioning civilization. 'Cause it is, and we won't realize it till it's too late.
The six things I could never do without
1. Music
2. A list of six things
3. A rock to wind a string around.
4. laser eyes
5. The number "5"
6. Tuna-safe Dolphin-salad Sandwiches.
7. One more thing.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Lots of things. Existentialism.
Ask me what I've been thinking about lately, and I'll probably respond.
On a typical Friday night I am
This statement is true.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
One time I ate an entire alien spaceship that crashed in my backyard. The FBI, CIA, NSA, NASA and military all showed up to see what the crash was, but I had eaten all the evidence before they got there, alien bodies and all. This sounds impressive, eating an entire spaceship, but it was about the size of a hamburger. Actually it tasted a lot like a hamburger. Maybe it wasn't a spaceship after all, and I'm just getting it confused with that time a hamburger crash landed in my backyard and the FBI, CIA, NSA, NASA and military all showed up to see what the crash was...

I'm annoyed that the "Slow Dancer" is recommended to look for "The Sonnet" or "Maid of Honor" but NOBODY is recommended to look for the "Slow Dancer."

It leads me to believe that the test itself is pretty bogus.
