My self-summary Propose an edit
I take myself too seriously but I still manage to crack myself up
on a regular basis. I'm left-handed. My identical twin is
right-handed. I was born on a different continent than the one on
which I presently live. I can't stop reading. I visualize words in scrolling
marquee as I hear or think of them. Making paper airplanes, kites, origami and knot tying are my less-known
hobbies.
I love: Downhill skiing on eastern
hardpack; snowboarding in midwest powder;
running down
mountains in the rain; taking naps naked at the tops of mountains
and on remote lakeshores; camping, hiking, swimming and road-tripping solo.
Like Sarah Silverman, my best friend is a Jew who loves chinks. She
especially loves ME because my presence spares her the task of
looking up words in
the dictionary that she doesn't know how to spell.

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
I spend a great portion of my free time recreationally reading. I
just moved, so I'm trying to figure out the good spots to be (i.e.
bookstores, coffee shops, jazz places) and how to get around by
bike and MBTA. Oh, and I'm reluctantly engaged in the degrading
search for a job. Anyone feel free to put me out of my
misery...with a gun, but if you don't have the stomach for that, a
job offer would suffice. Ha.
I'm really good at Propose an edit
Spelling words in
the English
language, complimenting people sincerely, and habitually being
on time to work. Shoveling snow with unbridled enthusiasm. Being
still and quiet for long periods of time. Gift-giving.
It occurred to me that what flaws I'm willing to admit I have might
be more revealing...so to that end: I'm not, in fact, a punctual
person; outside of work duties, I run perpetually late. My weakness
is to exploit other people's pet peeves or fears through practical
jokes--but some of my past actions have inadvertently lead to
flinching, tears and/or screams (and in one instance, complete
emotional meltdown). I always feel bad about what I've done
afterwards but never before or during.
Failures of Monumental Proportion, including but not
limited to: Native American bead-looming, spelling "mayonaise" on a
t-shirt, and giving snorkel lessons to Boy Scouts in a (very)
non-sober state.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
I'm short. I have beautiful hair.
The big scar on my right arm.
I laugh. A lot.
(It's a clever disguise for my subtle wit.)

Huckabees. Wes Anderson and Akira Kurosawa are two of my
cinema-related heroes. None of Meryl Streep's movies are in my
list of favorites, but I think she's one of the greatest actresses
in the universe and is capable of making bad movies fabulous, like
The Devil Wears Prada and Death Becomes Her.
Too many books to
mention, but a few: When the Legends Die.
Shogun. Breakfast of
Champions. An Alchemy of Mind. I Know This
Much is True. The Stones of Summer.
My
Side of the Mountain. Matilda. Long Walk to Freedom.

Rushdie's short story "The Harmony of the
Spheres". Catch-22. Animal Dreams. Madeleine L'Engle's
Wrinkle in

Geographic magazine. (Not a book, of course, but an integral part of my
life nonetheless.)
My favorite foods: anything you [that's a collective "you", by the
way; not specifically you, the reader] would cook for me. Dining
out for sushi, Thai, Indian, authentic baklava, all-you-can-eat Mongolian
grill, ice cream, fresh raspberries...and tons too many more to
mention. (Great food and well-aged portos are a sure way to win my
affection.)
"La
Pont D'Argenteuil": Beauty infinite....

My eyes (I think I'd die if I couldn't read), fine cuisine, friends, family,
potable water, words, libraries and blue Pilot P-500

The futility of absolute Objectivism.
The dialectical, intangible semantics of any given thing.
Art in its countless
uncensored and unrealized manifestations.
Laissez-faire capitalism and the illegal international drug

The Conspiracy of Everything.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
1) I'm a list-maker/compiler.
2) I'm not a materialist but I lust after Christian Louboutin
shoes.
3) I've stockpiled enough P-500's to last a decade, in case
they're ever discontinued.
4) I can't spell mayonaise.*
5) I sleep with books in my bed and under my pillow.
* Yes, I really can spell mayonaise, it's broccoli that gives me
trouble....

the Wang Theater, going on now until the 26th! hint hint) ;-D
