My self-summary
Well hello there!! Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to visit my profile - I'm sure I'll constantly be tweaking this over time so you never know what you might read here. LOL I'm a Western NY native, lived here all of my life, except for a couple of years away at college long ago, and simply can't imagine living anywhere else. So if you're a NY state/Western NY state/Buffalo basher... stop wasting your time and mine and read someone else's profile. Oh sure, others complain about the taxes and the weather but seriously.... you're going to pay taxes/fees no matter where you are and as far as the weather goes, well I LOVE it. My favorite season is autumn and that is spectacular here. Not much of a traveler - time and budget being two big impediments - but that's ok. I love to read and with books, you can transport yourself anywhere you would like to go (and be anybody you'd like to be). I'm college educated (1 Associate Degree, 2 Bachelor's degrees), talented, intelligent and hard working, although you wouldn't consider me a mover and shaker. I still have professional goals I'd like to accomplish before I'm done but not wishing to relocate limits my choices somewhat. For now, I can easily keep a roof over my head although I'll never get rich. (But oh DO appreciate the safety and security it can bring. CRAVE safety and security I do. It would be nice but understand it is rare in this world.) Being at the top can be VERY stressful and I know firsthand what that stress can do... it can kill and I am not willing to go that route. Am content to be a strong supporting pillar of a successful team effort. I've made plenty of mistakes in life and like to think that I've learned from them. I love to laugh and laugh at myself ALL the time. Been told that I have a good sense of humor and can be very snarky and sarcastic. Possessor of a strong personality, a strong will but have times of self doubt, pain and sometimes crippling anxiety too. Oh and in case it isn't obvious, I'm honest to the point of it being a fault. Still one of those rare people with a strong sense of ethics, which is probably why I detest politics. Think I'm well read (and getting better read all the time... my favorite hobby) with a curious mind. Love technology but try not to be slave to it... I'm loving my new Crackberry though!! As far as looks go... I am most often described as " cute ". UGH. It is what it is.... it's tough to be ravishing or statuesque at my height. Don't look my age though so I'll take that advantage. LOL Love to talk and communicate and other times am just still and quiet. Have often been called " the voice of reason " by friends. Not really a party person and not much of a social butterfly; do let loose from time to time with trusted friends and family. Complete and utter hopeless romantic; enjoy showing those who matter to me how important they are to me. Want to be more adventurous..... kind Sir... can you show me the way? What interests you?
What I’m doing with my life
Learning, growing, changing, wondering, aching, longing

I'd love to learn to ballroom dance but I'm convinced I have two left feet.... would like to learn how to drive a standard shift too.
I’m really good at
Writing - at work I'm the grammar and sentence structure Queen, although I have this nasty habit of using 20 words when 5 would sufffice. LOL Perhaps if I could find the time and courage, I could put fingers to keyboard and pour out all of these fantasies in my head into one smoking hot tome. Someday maybe you'll see me on Oprah, touting the latest, hottest book flying off the stands.... ok... well..... maybe....

Communicating - I'm a three time college graduate who feels a responsibility to walk, talk, speak and act like one. Enjoy articulate people, even those of differing viewpoints who can engage in intelligent discussions without resorting to cheap shots, name calling, invoking party rhetoric or spouting religious dogma all while checking one's arrogance at the damn door. So no, I'm NOT a fan of Rush L, the NRA or the uber religious fanatical right. And I'm so damned tired of those who use the word liberal as a cuss word - have you ever looked up the definition: OPEN MINDED?? Reminds me of a favorite quote: Minds are like umbrellas.... useful only when open.

Dreaming - have a vivid technicolor imagination although my life dreams are not that grandiose. Reality.... it's a bitch but you deal with it the best you can. After all, LIFE is what happens when you make plans. Working towards achieving some of my dreams but realistic enough to know that not all of them are going to happen.

Learning - try to learn something new every day. The day I stop learning will be the day I breathe my last.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm short! Ok I HATE that word but it's the truth. (But I like neat, sweet and PETITE better! ) And my tag phrase to all of you Sherlock Holmeses of the world who say, upon first meeting me: " Gee you're SHORT! " is: " I might be small but good things come in small packages and so does dynamite so be VERY VERY careful!!!!! " The great thing about being little and petite is that just about every man is taller than me..... and there isn't much more in life that captivates me than being with a guy who can completely surround me with his body - being loved and cared for in that way makes me just surrender. And honestly I have to say, a tall (remember: this term is relative for me given my lack of verticalness) muscular man with big strong hands just ROCKS MY WORLD. Oh.. and honest disclosure here: I am not as little as I'd like to be. My quest for my own rock hardness is ongoing.... check back with me in 5 or 6 months and SEE what I've done! Maybe I'll even be brave enough to post a before and after picture..... am terribly camera shy though.

My smile..... it's shy but there. My sassy personality is always upfront though.

Have very long thick hair...... only two people know my natural color - me and my stylist and we're NOT telling. :)

Yup I wear glasses.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Movies... where on earth do to start? SWAT (some great snarky lines), The A-Team (Sharlto Copley as Murdoch was totally inspired casting and he STOLE that movie, did you see District 9?), A Good Year (Russell Crowe in one of his best roles and a film that will stay with you long after it's over), The Mummy and The Mummy Returns, the Christian Bale Batman movies (and just about ANY Christian Bale movie for that matter - that man just can do no wrong in my mind), just about any western with John Wayne (that's my Mom's fault lol), A Little Romance (Diane Lane's first film and a very sweet movie), Buckaroo Bonzai (a great cult classic not to be missed), Jane Eyre (the Colin Firth version is the best although I have a soft spot in my heart for the most recent version with the smoldering Michael Fassbender), King Fu Hustle (one of the hands down funniest movies I have ever seen - you have to watch it multiple times to see all the gags you missed the previous times you've watched it), The Quick and the Dead (Sharon Stone kicks ass), Star Wars, Star Trek, Iron Man movies, the Avenger movies, Casablanca. Singin' in the Rain... just about anything with Errol Flynn, the list is endless......

Books/Periodicals - Voracious reader. I read everything from Martha Stewart Living, Tea Time, Victoria, to Time magazine, The Buffalo News (ok often weeks later but I read it), The Tonawanda News, occasionally the New York Times/Wall Street Journal to Shape, Muscle and Fitness (once in a blue moon) and many others. My favorite authors are E L James (the Fifty Shades books.... I enjoyed these the first time around but now find the characters not well done although still interesting), Sylvia Day (the Crossfire Series.... sigh... Gideon Cross rocks), Sylvain Reynard (the Gabriel's series.... such a deep romantic lead character.... could any non fictional man really be like that?), JRR Tolkein, Christopher Paolini (the Inheritance Cycle), Frank Herbert (Dune), Robert Ludlum, Eric Van Lustbader, Clive Barker (boy howdy NOBODY writes like THAT guy), the Brontes (Jane Eyre is my all time fav), anything by Jane Austen, Stephanie Meyers (hey, I loved the Twilight are NEVER too old for a good romantic story), CSI novels....... should I keep going?

My current reading list: The New Rules of Lifting for Women: Lift Like a Man, Look Like a Goddess - Lou Schuler

Cholesterol Down - Janet Brill

The Secret Language of Birthdays - Gary Goldschnieder - interesting book loaned to me by a friend

Zen for Dummies - also loaned to me by a friend

Music....... I'm all over the map when it comes to music. Love classical, some country, rock and roll, hard rock, R&B, oldies, old school rap, some rave/trance..... some of my favorite artists: Steve Winwood, Yes, Bruce Hornsby and the Range, the Eagles, Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Simon and Garfunkel, Paul Simon, Diana Krall, Sting, the Police, Paul Van Dyk..... you never know what will appear on my playlist! My favorite digital music channel is Soundscapes.... very soothing.
The six things I could never do without
Not in any particular order:
1) Books
2) Music
3) Pets - greatly prefer cats, not really a dog fan
4) Tea and occasionally coffee including one of my biggest vices: Tim Horton's English toffee cappuccino
5) Someone to love - right now that's my family, my pets and my friends..... and I'm learning to love myself more.... but have more than enough left over for a man who wants to share my life and rock my world. So what are you waiting for?
6) Working out - physically it sometimes hurts and leaves me uncomfortable but the mental benefits are completely vital to me - it's my sanity keeper. Have shed 26 pounds as of 1 Nov 2013... yay for me!! La Perla in my not so distant future? LOL
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life and my place in the world.

The best course of action to take for moving my dreams forward.
What is the next step in my quest for better health and fitness? Have any ideas you'd like to share?

Love..... respect.... someone to trust... how absolutely terrifyingly vulnerable it makes one feel. But what is worse is the fear that I might never find what I so badly long for...... refuse to settle just to avoid being alone however. Can't hurt someone, or myself, that way. Intimate relationships are a SACRED bond - a circle of TRUST. If both parties aren't 100% onboard, the relationship isn't worth fighting for. Am happy for the most part and do my best to enjoy every single day of my life but still looking for my complement. As Jackson Browne once musically and poetically put it: " Still searching for the missing colors in each other's paint by number dreams... " Unlike too many others on sites like these, I'm NOT interested in a one night stand or an affair - interested in a RELATIONSHIP only. I just can't understand why someone would want something less. I enjoy spoiling my partners and long to have someone who feels the same way; I have a wealth of love to give and want to have someone as the central pillar of my life. My name means " beloved " and that is what I wish to be for you.... your beloved.
On a typical Friday night I am
Home, probably soaking my aching body in the tub after a hard workout - workouts that will get worse once I get the OK from the doc to get back to it - had a health scare recently. Would you like to be additional inspiration? After the bath I'm probably reading or watching a little TV. So yes much prefer baths to showers and always bathe at night... can't stand going to bed dirty and sweaty.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've never really been a fan of kids. Never wanted any, no longer able to have any and NOT interested in raising someone else's. Besides, this world is already too crowded and we humans have sucked at caring for it. My maternal instincts extend to my pets, my family and my dearest friends.
I’m looking for
  • Straight guys only
  • Ages 43–51
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For long-term dating
You should message me if
You are an intelligent, educated (degreed preferred), articulate and erudite, deep, intense and passionate - a strong and successful one-woman man searching for a deep, intense and passionate partner. I like confident and commanding, but not arrogant, men. You're a man who loves and respects the women in your life and treats them accordingly... a gentleman. I don't want to compete with you; two professionally ambitious headstrong people in a relationship probably wouldn't work well. If you conquer your professional world and are successful at it, I'll be proud of you and will be content for you to be in the spotlight. That's not me however.... I shun the spotlight. The only spotlight I want shining on me is the warmth of your love and affection as we share each other's lives. And remember: never make someone a priority in your life who makes you an option in theirs. I LOVE strength.... physical, mental and emotional...... but NOT someone so towering and overpowering that he's closed off from his own feelings and needs and also from mine. I hope you can lead (although at times I might too), and if you give me your hand and heart and work to earn and keep my trust, we can have a bond that goes beyond what most people have. That's what I crave and it is my soul's torment for lack of same. Seeking someone to be friends first, then a trusted confidant, then a partner, to a devoted lover and finally an adored husband - so why don't you write to me and we'll see what happens? Every journey starts with a single step....
