I am engaged, nerdy, and secure.
My Self-Summary
In short: LA face with an
Oakland booty.
I enjoy wearing ear plugs to bed.
I've been known to discuss pond bacteria on dates and to bring up
orgies in the office.
I love walking down the street carrying a bouquet of flowers.
Part hedonist, part thinker.
I'm curious but content. I love the friends I have, and I love
making new ones. I can whip up a mean challah, and I enjoy quality
crappy movies. Making out? Check. Reading in bed? Check. Dinner
parties? Dancing till the wee hours? Making the world a better
place? Check, check, and check. I'm ambitious, but I know that most
of life's joy can be found in the day-to-day. So let's grab a
drink, or brunch, or an aimless wander around town, or . . .
Es una lastima que no hablo Espanol muy bien ahora. QUiero aprender
de nuevo.
What I’m doing with my life
Feeling settled in in SF, though still experiencing moments of
culture shock as I reacclimate after 11 years in the Northeast. I
spend my days trying to save the world (or at least pockets of the
East Bay) by sitting in community meetings and sorting through
arcane statutes and regulations. Housing, jobs, and healthy
neighborhoods for all! Woohoo!
I’m really good at
Baking bread. Rambling late-night conversations. Hugging.
Pondering.
The first things people usually notice about me
You tell me. Seriously. It's always fascinating to get a glimpse of
how I look through the eyes of others.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Invisible
Man is clearly the "Great American Novel," but more
importantly, it's a great read that speaks personally to me every
time I read it. Updated reading list -- in the middle of
Petropolis, recently done with The Road, Apex Hides the Hurt, and
Dreams From My Father. I love the movie
The Pillow Book though I've
vowed only to see it once. My true food soulmate will always be
broccoli, though
I do enjoy good crusty bread, creative salads, anything with corn
in it, and dark chocolate.
Belgian Beer also rocks my world.
I'm a classical musician, so I love all those old coots (Beethoven
symphonies, Schubert chamber music, Bach's solo cello suites, most
things Shostakovich and Mahler, and assorted other good stuff). I
also love trashy dance music, the beatles, old Motown artists, and
whatever random MP3s I happen to have laying around.
The six things I could never do without
1. connecting with others 2.
Cello 3. creating physical things 4.
intimate conversation 5. writing 6.
balance (between self and social, work
and play, activity and rest, etc)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Landscapes -- physical, social, internal, fictional.
On a typical Friday night I am
At a lounge or dive bar or eating out with friends, or cooking, or
from time to time at home on the couch with a movie and someone
nice and warm.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I get a different label each time I take the OKCupid Test, but I
feel like I answer the questions consistently. Seriously, so far
I've gotten the Gentleman, Bachelor, False Messiah, Loverboy, and
Vapor Trail. Let's add Playboy to the list. Why not. I'm really not
that mercurial. I swear!
You should message me if
You like or dislike my prose or pics, you want wander around SF,
you care to correct my grammar or word usage, you've got a good
chill pub with a bunch of things on tap that you'd like to
recommend, you can teach me how to make a good new veggie dish, or
basically any other reason. I'm relatively friendly most of the
time.
