Adventure-seeker with a sense for finding the "right spot" for whatever the moment calls for, be it a lunch, dinner, romantic interlude, or rest stop on a long hike. The ambience (Feng Shui) is very important to me, and I'll make an effort to get it right.
I may be old-fashioned, but I treat my handshake or my word as binding as a legal written contract. Ask me a favor, and I'll move mountains to get it done for you.
Next in Faulkner-like stream of consciousness, I'll add that I also like to climb mountains, having learned from my aunt in southern Germany during visits in high school and college to value the alpine environment, its challenges, dangers, and beauty. Through this apprenticeship, I realized how tenuous is our grip on life, and began more fullly appreciating my experiences, friendships, and relationships along the way.

Developing mountain-climbing skills to better scale the corporate ladder. Just kidding. My target is of course real mountains, which are much more fun and genuine. No politics involved in getting to the top, just skill and good judgement, a bit of luck with the weather, and camaraderie while mountaineering. So I continue to pursue long-term interests in rock climbing and ice climbing.

Not letting changes in plans bother me, even when it's last-minute. In fact, not letting things in general bother me. One of my friends in college once said "So, why does nothing seem to really bother you?"

I'm tall, sit straight, have excellent manners, and am a good listener. My friends say I Make a good impression.

I really enjoy reading a good history book (or listening to a history lecture!): if done well, it's as entertaining as a novel -- with the added benefit that everything in it actually happened. So it's possible to read several versions of the events. The past few years, I've read mostly US Foreign policy, Asian history, and just started a book about how Islam helped shape European civilization. For beach reading fun: science fiction (anything Asimov) and some of the standard best-sellers. I also enjoy the poetry of Robert Frost, my favorite being "Fire and Ice".

Favorite cuisines are many: Chinese, Thai, Korean, Japanese, Ethiopian, genuine Italian (NOT Olive Garden style; I'm sort of a food snob, I guess)

1) how to fix the world's problems, particularly the ones regarding energy use and the environment. In parallel to those thoughts, I often think "How much I could improve things if only I were in charge!" ha!

2) next place I want to explore/vacation: Greek islands, Egypt, Argentina, Cuba

3) the fact that it's all too easy to forget the Chinese characters I painstakingly learned!
