My self-summary
A strangely dapper little woodland creature; a highly efficient converter of coffee into sarcasm. I am pretty darned genderqueer and identify as something like "butch unless there are spiders." I delight in snarky commentary, good vegan food, serendipity, art, tiny things, random bizarre facts, and rocky freshwater streams. I am trying to be the strange I wish to see in the world.

So I don't actually believe in the deterministic relationship between planetary positions and human lives implied by western astrology, but on occasion it does make for awfully convenient shorthand. That said, I'm a Scorpio... which, yeah, fair enough. (Likes: freaky sex, omniscience, passion, meaning and intensity; dislikes: the fact that I'm like 95% soft sensitive underbelly and everyone knows it)

I can be super shy, but catch me in the right mood and I live for the applause. Sweetie darling.

Feminism: mandatory.
What I’m doing with my life
Back in school after a long time; so far, so good. Meanwhile, lots of volunteer gardening, teaching myself How To Art, updating nerd skills in internships. Recovering from stuff.

A couple of months ago I rappelled down a waterfall. (IT WAS TERRIFYING) I also got to go caving (it was awesome) and rock climbing (I suck at it but loved rappelling) this summer... so now when we meet you will be surprised at my near-total lack of physical coordination.
I’m really good at
Listening without being judge-y. Devil's advocacy. Explaining very dorky things excitedly. Fixing computers and drywall. Recalling bits of feminist theory. Pancakes! Thinking of Halloween costume ideas (and promptly forgetting most of them). Music recommendations. Copy editing. Crossword puzzles (in pen). Overthinking.
The first things people usually notice about me
I often look like I'm plotting something devious. This swagger of mine is ... sometimes a lot closer to a mince.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music: i am kind of insane about it. Once, not too long ago, I was about to put some avant-garde French black metal in the CD player in my car, but a Justin Timberlake song came on the radio and stayed my hand. I am pretty sure that that is not a thing that happens to other people. tl; dr: one could describe my musical tastes as "broad."

Obsessions right now: Solange, Le1f, BLKHRTS, Pinkish Black, True Widow, Chelsea Wolfe.
Some enduring favorites: Swans, Joy Division, Blut Aus Nord, Wovenhand, GY!BE, Pixies.

Books! (And authors.) The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. The Sparrow. The Name of the Rose. Octavia Butler, Ursula Le Guin, Virginia Woolf. Rimbaud, Baudelaire and all those ne'er-do-wells. Harry Potter, ASOIAF, the first couple of books in the Malazan series. Audre Lorde, Gloria Anzaldua, the maybe three paragraphs of Irigaray that I properly understood. Edward Said. Lots and lots of contemporary sf/f authors.

Movies: suddenly last summer. Anything high camp and/or sweeping Sirkian melodrama. John Waters. David Lynch. Hellraiser. Better Off Dead. Heathers! The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Rope. REPO MAN
The six things I could never do without
Forests. November. Touch. something to doodle on / with. Fuzzy blankets. Coffee.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The prison-industrial complex. Depth psychology. How compassion and loving kindness wouldn't be nearly so significant in a world less full of fuckwits. Imagining Sisyphus happy. Kittens! Books I should read. Music I should hear. Music I should make. Turns of phrase, tumbled and polished. At least one song stuck in my head, always. A thoroughly filthy appreciation for pencil skirts and the women who rock them. Ethics and aesthetics and transgressive art. whatever I just learned reading Wikipedia for an hour when I originally intended to do something productive. Elephants (they are amazing).
On a typical Friday night I am
Editing my okcupid profile, it would seem. Also: watching creepy French movies, long conversations in a friend's kitchen, drawing and/or scribbling. Friday nights may also include strange movies, outdoor urban wandering, whiskey...
