I'm interested in the whole world.

I love the arts, music, books, film, ideas, politics, restaurants, and just driving around and seeing what happens.

I am deeply into travel and have been all over Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, North America, South America, Central America, and the Caribbean.

I love the developing world. The unfamiliar architecture, the sound of prayers in the temples, smells of street food sizzling in the stalls, the sting of local alcohol, the heat of the peppers, incense in the air, the open markets, the hospitality of the people.

We will stand on the balcony of our hotel room in the dusk, listening to the call to prayer echo over the city as the last hour of day fades into night. Then wander out into the street, among the crowds watching acrobats perform in the open square, down to the smoking grills of the food stalls where they serve us eggplant mashed with garlic and lemon, fried potatoes dashed with salt, and fish still warm from the frying oil.

Life is short and we shouldn't take our time here for granted.

I work in government and politics.

I studied archaeology in graduate school and worked on digs in Turkey, Syria, Israel, and Yemen.

I'm a guitar player, and I sing and write songs.

I love to read and discover new books. I'm a writer and in my spare time I write novels.

I make travel and reading priorities in my life. I listen to music every day. I like to find all the good restaurants wherever I am.

My goals in life are simple: I want to write ten novels and visit every country in the world before I die.
