I am driven, courteous, and introspective.

My Self-Summary

Hmmm....The boy next door. More like the boy across the street and four houses down. I wish I could think of something clever to write, but I am coming up with nada. At heart I am a physics/history geek with a healthy dose of southern gentleman added for accent and flavor.

I love what I do for a living so I work hard and play as hard as seems prudent with what is left over. I am a bit of a contradiction, as comfortable in a suit or a kilt as I am in overalls on a tractor. I love to meet new people and have a good conversation but I am awfully shy.

In my spare time I really enjoy horseback riding because I have to completely clear my mind and focus on the task at hand. I also volunteer with the Kennesaw Mountain historic weapons program for giggles and grins.

I would hate to be completely categorized by a 100 word online manifesto, I prefer to believe that I am much more complicated than that, so if you want to know more about me just ask, but I will add I'm a Ramblin' Wreck from Georgia Tech and a hell of an Engineer.

What I’m doing with my life

I am working for a small structural engineering firm in Tucker. I just got into graduate school and I will start in fall 2008 working on a Masters Degree, all the while trying to hold down my job and have as much fun as possible.

I’m really good at

My Job, I love figuring out how to solve seemingly impossible problems elegantly and efficiently, not to mention I get to do just enough physics to make me happy but not cook my noodle. I don't do too bad on a horse if it has an english saddle. Occasionally I can turn a piece of wood into something truly beautiful.

The first things people usually notice about me

I am a raging geek who tends to be shy.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: The Fountainhead, The Great Gatsby, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Leaves of Grass, Lord of the Rings, any American History book (especially 1760-1865)

Movies: Serenity, Office Space, Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Snatch, Army of Darkness, Dr. Stranglelove, Glory, All Quiet on the Western Front, The Last Samurai, Red Dawn, Gallipoli, Gattaca, Tron, Mr. Smith goes to Washington, MASH, Fightclub ... the list goes on and on.

Music: Right now I am on a Folksy/indie kick so its Yonder Mountain String Band, Drive By Truckers, Great Lake Swimmers, Andy McKee, basically anything that has a guitar or banjo and sounds like it was done in one take. This preference is liable to change at any moment, but I will always stop to listen to a Foo Fighters song or most old school alternative and a good classical choral piece. In short music(bob)=eclectic.

Food: Mexican is the standby and I am too much of an Irishman not to LOVE potatoes

The six things I could never do without

Family
Friends
the internet (especially my online comics)
my glasses (until I manage to get "teh Lasiks")
college football season

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Well now I am spending a lot of time thinking about what I think about. When I am not thinking about what I am thinking about I am all over the map. Imagine throwing a dart blindfolded at a wall covered in wikipedia pages.

On a typical Friday night I am

a mixed bag... I may be happily laboring over a grill with a cold drink, or in Decatur with friends or coworkers, or simply at home watching a movie or curled up with a good book.
