My self-summary
I read a lot. I hang out with my family (on purpose) more than anyone else I know. I like animals, which is a shame because I’m allergic to most of them. I've just completed my history degree at UC Denver, and am trying to find someting to do with said degree. I love playing games; board, video or sports, but when it comes to the former, I much prefer playing to watching. My taste in movies and music is rather eclectic.

I am opinionated, reactive, and introverted

What I’m doing with my life
I just finished my Bachelor’s in History, and I'm considering getting a second degree that will actually earn me money. No, I don’t want to teach.

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Ok, so a little about me. I am the world's biggest geek. I love Star Trek. I love Harry Potter. I adore Robert A. Heinlein, and I can't get enough fairy tales or Greek and Roman Mythology (even if I can't pronounce any of the names.) Weird Al Rocks. Books are awesome; in fact I go nuts when I have nothing to read. I like to argue. Yeah, that's right. I like to argue, it's fun. (Argue, not fight, fighting is not fun.)

Star Trek. Next Generation is the best. That being said, I also love Voyager. Now, before you start looking at me like I'm nuts, you should know that Next Gen began when I was one. We watched it every week when I was little, but I didn't really begin to understand what was happening until Voyager. I never saw much of DS9, and when I found time for it a few seasons in, they were in the middle of the Dominion Wars, and I was completely confused. Since then I have finished the entire series, and I did like it (I love Vic) however, I still prefer TNG and Voyager. My least favorite of the movies thus far is Nemesis. What kind of Idiot decided to kill off Data? Well, I didn't much like the plot line either.

Harry Potter. Don't get me started. I'm completely obsessed. I literally reference the books in my everyday speech. I frequent Mugglenet and other potter-related sites. I write fanfiction, my screen name is Athene and I can be found on Checkmated and fanfiction.net. I learned how to knit so I could make a Gryffindor scarf for heaven's sake. My scarf is about 12 feet long. Most of my obsessed friends have received a scarf for a present at some point (only 6 or 7 feet, though.) I ship Ron/Hermione. I'm ok with Harry/Ginny, I hate Harry/Hermione, and Draco will always be an ass. I could go on forever with this, but I’m not going to.

Heinlein. This man is the King of Science Fiction. I've read a bunch of his books, and if you have, I love to talk about them. My favorites are The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, and The Door into Summer. Other honorable mentions include but are not limited to Tunnel in the Sky, Friday, The Cat that Walks Through Walls, Have Space Suit, Will Travel, and Citizen of the Galaxy. I have yet to read his most famous work, Stranger in a Strange Land, and I wasn't all that impressed with Starship Troopers. Maybe I need to reread it. ( BTW, please don’t let my love for this author imply that I follow in all of his beliefs, I am a great supporter of monogamy.)

Mythology, my Screen name is Athene. Need I say more? It started with a movie: Disney's Cinderella. I was two, I watched it over and over and over, like kids will. Later I read fairy tales, the sweet innocent kiddie ones. Then I read Grimm, and Anderson, the, well, grim fairytales. Then I discovered this section of the library 398.22. Mythology to my heart's content. Some of my favorites are written by Robin McKinley, Anne McCaffrey, and I've recently fallen in love with the works of Mercedes Lackey. I've probably read more fairy tales or variants of fairy tales than the average person even knows are out there. I write my own variants as well. My dream career would be that of a fantasy fiction writer.

Music. I love music. I'm usually listening to rock of some sort. Most of the rock I listen to is pop, which may be an admission I should save for the "most private thing I'm willing to admit" box. I like a little Hip-hop, but not an overdose, and oldies are fun. I probably know the beat and the lyrics, but don’t bet on me knowing the artist unless I really love them.
