I love to play - with words, my dog (and really, any other willing animal), board and card games like Settlers of Catan, poker, and many others, the (violon)cello, and so on.
Likes: spicy food, dogs, cataloging other people's idiosyncrasies, staying up later than I should & sleeping in, breakfast all day, biking around the bend and getting to see the fall colors on display over the road in front of me, warming in the sun, the quiet after a fresh snowfall, watching murder mysteries and nature documentaries, being mouthy, not putting up with your shit.
Enneagram type 6 is slightly more accurate than ISTJ if that sort of thing is important to you.
reading a road map and navigating,
enjoying Michigan wines and beers,
following clear directions,
maintaining good lab technique,
being nice to waitstaff,
sucking at whirlyball (but I love it all the same!),
remembering things you and I would rather I could forget.
I'm comfortable in my own skin and tall. Other women say nice things about my curly hair, which I find very flattering. The patients who meet me at work comment that I smile constantly. My siblings' in-laws think that I'm very sweet, down to earth, happy, and fun.
In general, people outside of Texas and the southwest take for granted that I'm white (usually some sort of "ethnic" white like Italian or Jewish, neither of which is quite accurate) because they notice my pale skin, dark, curly hair, and decidedly un-WASP-ish nose. I'm not white. I am mixed/mestiza. I'm open to all ethnic backgrounds as long as you're not a traditionalist.
movies: Bringing Up Baby, other Hepburn movies, the Batman Begins/Dark Knight/Dark Knight Rises trilogy, The Bourne Identity, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, Munich, Stranger than Fiction, the new Star Trek, Pride & Prejudice (the 1995 BBC production), Run, Lola, Run, Cool Hand Luke, Bull Durham, and who doesn't love Up?
music: Imogen Heap, Nickel Creek, Susan Tedeschi, the cuban and brazilian programs on WEMU, Maria Rita, Marisa Monte, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Norah Jones, Lauryn Hill, Feist, Regina Spektor, motown, Beethoven, Vivaldi's Winter, Shostakovich, Hindemith, Aaron Copland, Mendelssohn's Hebrides Overture, and anything with a good beat, strong (hopefully non-misogynistic) vocals, and some danceability if that's what I'm trying to do at the moment.
foods/drinks: Fresh fruits including but not limited to blueberries, prickly pears, michigan apples and cherries, nectarines, raspberries, plantains, mango, and pineapple; puerto rican food (though I'm not Puerto Rican), corn on the cob, green beans, artichokes, mushrooms, chicken, turkey, crab, lobster, shrimp, clams, mussels, pasta, sushi sans wasabi/horseradish, dark chocolate, shaved ice, coffee, green tea, iced tea, limeade.
tv shows: HGAWM, Parenthood, Once Upon a Time, Jeopardy, OITNB, Venture Brothers, West Wing, ER, Star Trek (TNG, DS9, and Voyager). I watch a lot of PBS. Antiques Roadshow, Masterpiece Theater, Nova, Nature, etc.
I could live without most of these... maybe not the first and last items, though.
What do I want to grow in my garden next year? How many ways can you prepare green beans before you absolutely hate them?
The way we're all made of stardust.
From November to April, there's no routine.
Blaring samba & terrible dance/house into my headphones is the only thing that gets me through cardio when I'm at the gym.
