I am honest, hard working, and loyal.
My Self-Summary
I'm an easy going guy who believes everyone has a right to their
own beliefs, and it's more important to accept that than try to
bring them around to your personal views. I've yet to figure out if
I'm a geeky nerd or a nerdy geek. To give this credence, I'm
currently working through all the movies referenced in Rocky Horror
Picture Show.
Trying to figure out the easiest way to arrange this probably more
difficult than actually answering it. I guess I could just make a
list with those annoying brackets (which really throws off my
typing).
Interests:
karaoke,
shooting pool,
kayaking,
reading,
computers,
role playing games,
random studies,
motorcycles
What I’m doing with my life
Sometimes I feel I'm stuck in the middle-age rut. I work a lot, and
my job is a bit random since I'm a field tech, so predictability is
rare. In the spare time I can find, I like to hang out with friends
or help out with any of several groups I belong to. I don't get to
do as much as I once did, but whenever possible, I squeeze some
volunteer work in. I just got my motorcycle license this year and
still have half a year of novice to go. I wouldn't mind finding
someone interested in riding with.
I’m really good at
I assume this list is based on what I believe I'm good at. Going on
that basic precept... I think I'm better than average at singing,
at least when they give the words (aka: karaoke). I can shoot pool
better than many, but I'm far from a pool shark. Listening when
others have anything they want to talk about. If it's humorous, all
the better, if it's serious then it's obviously something which
needs let out.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm fairly tall (6'0"), medium build and gaining (220 lbs), balding
orange hair (my driver's license says red... I disagree), I nearly
always wear dark clothes (light colors show when I'm climbing
around at work too easily), pretty much always pull-overs / golf
shirts and semi-dress slacks. My beard and hair are usually close
cut (beard at 1/4" and hair at 1/2").
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I'm not sure where to even start with books and music? I read
voraciously, and when I can't read (on the road, which is a lot), I
go through audio books. Some favorite authors:
Steven King,
Dean Koontz,
Anne McCaffrey,
Terry Brooks,
Piers
Anthony,
Clive Cussler,
Bernard Cornwell, almost
anything historical or historical fiction. A lot of biographies are
a bit dry, but some are bearable. I'll also get lost in most
fantasy or science fiction books.
Hmmmm. Movies might be a bit more difficult to narrow down.
Serenity /
Firefly,
Rocky Horror
Picture Show,
Sweeny Todd,
Boondock Saints,
LOTR,
Harry Potter, too many to figure
out. Right now, I'm working my way through the movies mentioned in
RHPS. I have not found Dr. X, Rope or Riff Raff yet.
Music? Mostly country and Celtic. Celtic because ... it's Celtic
(weakness for bagpipes). Country is largely because it's more in my
range to sing. Being naturally a baritone, there aren't a lot of
metal or rock songs in my range, and I don't consider 99% of rap to
be music. I'd say my favorite artists right now are
Trace Adkins,
Toby Keith,
Josh Turner,
Brad Paisley,
Sugarland,
Josh Gracin
and oh so many more. Basically anything I can sing along with (just
about anything).
Food isn't a big priority for me. The only 3 things I claim to cook
are Spaghetti, chili, and bacon explosion
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1IiUAtoNBk). Normally, cooking
dinner consists of: preheat the oven to 450, put the pizza in and
pull it out 8 minutes later. My alternatives are cereal, soup or
ravioli out of the can or bagels with tons of cream cheese.
The six things I could never do without
#6 = air
#5 = water
#4 = food
#3 = sleep
#2 = gravity
#1 =
#6 = Music... I need to have music around.
#5 = Books... you stop learning when you die... then you discover
what many people spend their entire lives trying to learn.
#4 = Human contact... I haven't learned how to do so many important
things that others have.
#3 = More Learning
#2 = Cheese... I LOVE cheese. I often sit down with a block of
extra sharp cheddar and a knife, and that's dinner.
#1 = Mountain Dew... I swear they could process me like in Dune and
get a few bottles of Mountain Dew.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Squirrel!!
On a typical Friday night I am
I don't have a standard routine. I used to say "go to karaoke", but
haven't even been going out to sing that much lately. Many Fridays,
I'll go to my friends' house and sit around the campfire drinking
beer and talking.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I'm not big on secrets. If you want to know much of anything, ask
and I'll probably fill you in on much more than you originally
wanted to know.
You should message me if
...you live in / around Columbus, you don't mind complete honesty
and I haven't put you to sleep yet.
