My self-summary
I find it hard to summarize myself into neat categories. I'm in the military, but I'm quite liberal. I'm nerdy, but also like to watch some sports and work out. I enjoy serious and deep conversations, but I'm also silly and am not afraid of unleashing my inner child.
What I’m doing with my life
Currently finishing up my time in the Navy (sort of like prison, but with better pay and benefits). I've learned a lot and had some great experiences, but it's time to move on and go back to school. I'm really excited to be a student again soon.
I’m really good at
Generally, I would say problem solving and observing the big picture. I have a good memory and love learning new things. I can recall the most random information sometimes.
The first things people usually notice about me
Hmm...I guess that I'm tall. Once we get into a conversation, most people say I'm like a human encyclopedia.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Infinite Jest, Hyperion, As I Lay Dying, Blood Meridian, Brave New World, 1984, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Also lots of non-fiction by Carl Sagan, Oliver Sacks, Daniel Dennett, Michael Pollan, Steven Pinker, Mary Roach, Michael Lewis, etc.

Movies: Recently I've really liked The Martian, Ex Machina, Trainwreck, Birdman, Interstellar...Inside Out. In general I enjoy stuff by Kubrick, Tarantino, Lynch, etc.

Food: Does awesome beer count? I love to cook and am not afraid to take on most any recipe. I guess my favorites are Indian, Thai, Mediterranean, and Japanese.

Music: Stuff I've been listening to a lot lately would include Vampire Weekend, Arcade Fire, Animal Collective, Beach House, The National, Air, Yo La Tengo, Radiohead.

I'm not afraid to blast some Taylor Swift or Lana Del Ray though... I could go on practically forever about music.
The six things I could never do without
Music
Books
Podcasts (makes things like cleaning and driving much more interesting)
A Kitchen
Beer
Curiosity
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How pretty much anything works, on different levels.

The human mind and all its crazy geniuses and flaws.

How I can make my own meaning in life; in a way that actually seems meaningful.

How twelve musical notes and a relatively limited amount of rhythms and song structures can make up such an amazing variety of music.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hillcrest and North Park are my main areas. Most of the time I'd rather go to a place with good food and craft beers instead of a packed club. However, I don't like to rule out most experiences and can be convinced to go wherever.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My sense of humor can be very inappropriate and can get me into trouble.
You should message me if
You're awesome and you think I'm awesome and if our combined awesomness would make heads explode.
