My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm always curious and on the move, still trying to figure out what I truly love. However, I love learning and exploring so it's not a bad thing. I'm pretty good at making whatever I'm doing fun.

I find it hard to summarize myself into neat categories. I'm in the military, but I'm quite liberal. I'm nerdy, but also like to watch some sports and work out. I enjoy serious and deep conversations, but I'm also silly and am not afraid of unleashing my inner kid.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Music and playing around with electronic devices have always been passions of mine. Naturally, I decided to get a degree in audio production and do the technical behind-the-scenes work in the music business.

Well, it turned out to not be a great time to start working in the music business. So after a few years I decided it was time for a change of pace. The Navy seemed like quite the change from the rock-and-roll life, plus I could still do technical stuff with sound and electronics.

So, I'm now a sonar technician on a submarine. Totally different life experience. It's some valuable work experience (having my college paid for is awesome, of course), but this definitely isn't the life for me. I'm taking some classes when I can and obsessively planning my path to a master's degree in electrical engineering when I get out.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Generally, I would say problem solving and observing the big picture. I always like to question my own beliefs and attempt to uncover a higher level of truth and understanding.

I also have a good memory and love learning new things. I can recall the most random information sometimes.
The first things people usually notice about me

Hmm...I guess that I'm tall. Once we get into a conversation, most people say I'm like a human encyclopedia.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: For fiction, I like sci-fi and fantasy (some humor is always good too). Some favorites are Ender's Game, Hyperion, Dune, Game of Thrones, and Hitchhiker's Guide. I probably read more non-fiction though. Most anything in the sciences, sociology, philosophy, psychology, etc. Sagan is a long time favorite.

Movies: I like most movies that are generally considered "good". I guess I prefer movies with depth and some sort of strangeness or unique quality to them. Kubrick, Tarantino, Lynch, etc.

Food: Does awesome beer count? I love to cook and I love all sorts of food. At one time I considered going to culinary school, but decided it would take the fun out of cooking. Indian food is awesome. Anything with a tasty sauce, really. Oh, and a good barbecue is always awesome.

Music: I like all sorts of genres. However, I usually stick to the more underground and experimental side of things. I love stuff that brings together different genres, typically with unusual song structures.

Lately I guess I've been listen to a lot of indie rock. Vampire Weekend, Arcade Fire, Animal Collective, etc. I could go on practically forever about music though.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Life, the universe, and everything. But more specifically, music would be up there (assuming we forget about the boring essentials). The other senses are pretty awesome too though. I do love seeing and tasting things.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How pretty much anything works, on different levels.

The human mind and all it's crazy geniuses and flaws.

How I can make my own meaning in life, that actually seems meaningful.

How twelve musical notes and a relatively limited amount of rhythms and song structures can make up so much an amazing variety of music.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
The same thing we do every night, Pinky...try to take over the world!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm not very good at the "typical" ways of meeting people to date (like hitting on girls at bars).

...you are interested in what you've read about me, obviously.

What I am looking for? Really just anybody with similar interests. Being into science and critical thinking would be awesome.

I don't have anything against religious people in general, but if you base a large part of your life on it then that could be a problem.

Oh, and scientists and musicians are the most awesome people in the world, imo. If you are a scientist studying music, well I couldn't stand the idea of not talking to you.
