I am enthusiastic, kind, and creative.
My Self-Summary
I tend to think of myself as an open book, but I guess you just
have to know the right questions to ask. I find it hard to capture
myself in pictures and text (but then I'm sure that's true of most
of us). I think I'll take cue from another profile I saw and share
a testimony once posted by a friend of mine:
"The more I get to know you, there more fascinated I am. I think
few people have even an inkling at how open, accepting, and genuine
you are. There are some who should have realized this all along,
but didn't take the gifts you had to offer. How sad for them.
Thanks for being my friend"
Words used to describe me by my friends include: empathetic,
intelligent, pulchritudinous (had to look that one up), creative,
dignified (that one surprised me a little), inclusive, talented and
yum (that was from my straight female cousin, so I don't know what
that was about).
Things I enjoy doing now include spending time with friends and
family,
board
games,
theatre,
movies,
art,
crafts,
home & garden,
karaoke (or at
least laughing at it/myself),
hiking,
walking, playing with
legos
Things I used to do more of include
sewing,
stained glass,
gardening
Things I wouldn't mind learning more about include
miniatures - I have a dollhouse
kit from my grandma I'd love to build one day,
garden railroads,
toy making
What I’m doing with my life
I am a school psychologist who loves to figure out how kids learn.
I am in the process of writing a series social skills workbooks
based on fairy tale characters that I've used in my schools, but
have put completion on hold since my good friend and illustrator
passed away. I am also on the board of a local theatre and enjoy
both watching and being involved in shows.
I’m really good at
seeing other people's perspectives. This helps me a lot at work in
dealing with challenging personalities as I almost always assume
the best of intentions until I am proven wrong.
The first things people usually notice about me
I am friendly and like to share information when I think it might
be helpful, even if I wasn't asked.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Book: I tend towards fantasies and mysteries with a little
nonfiction thrown in for good measure. Authors I enjoy include
JK Rowling,
Mercedes
Lackey,
David
Richo and
Charlaine Harris.
TV/Movies:
Glee (I
especially love comedy done to music),
Buffy/
Angel,
Dr. Horrible's
Sing Along Blog (most
Joss Whedon),
Princess Bride,
King of Hearts (French
film),
Kevin
Smith films and
Savage Steve Holland
films.
Music: Eclectic, I love using iTunes' "genius" function with my
music collection. It created a play list based on The Banana Boat
Song that included such artists as
Kingston Trio,
Crash Test Dummies,
They
Might Be Giants,
Violent Femmes,
Smash Mouth and
ABBA just to name a few.
Food: Thai, good Mexican, Sushi and Kailua Pork.
The six things I could never do without
Air, Food, Sleep, Friends, Family, My Son
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How people learn, how people relate and how we can do it better.
Life and how how you never know what you can expect from it.
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm really not a bar person, though I've been known to enjoy a good
happy hour or Karaoke night with friends. I enjoy going out, but
I'd just assume stay at home with a few good friends and play games
or just chat.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I make up silly songs about mundane life events for my son.
You should message me if
You are honest, open and hopefully funny. You are confident in who
you are, and have some direction in where you are going. Specific
job is not so important, but it is nice if it is something
meaningful to you.
On a personal note, I'm not entirely sure this whole internet
dating thing is for me. I try to be a nice and honest person, and
this does not always feel like an entirely genuine environment. If
you like my profile, please rate, and I will try to rate back.
