I am restless, curious, and dreaming.
My Self-Summary
Well, hello.
I'm a
vagabond
living out of my backpack on an
indefinitely long trip across the
country. I thought it might be kind of nice to meet people in some
of the places I go, so I set up a profile here.
As for me, I'm a very independent and open-minded person. I don't
generally like labels, but for now they're practical: I'm an
egalitarian,
atheist,
vegetarian freegan, and part-time
activist for a good cause.
I have a strong moral compass that operates quite independently
from the law. I love
reading,
traveling, and finding the
neat spots in every
city, and I'm always excited when I remember my
dreams as they're usually a little
bizarre.
I'll have to write more later, but this will do for now.
What I’m doing with my life
Traveling! I'm exploring New England a bit before winter hits, and
preparing for a potential
hitchhiking excursion in
Scandinavia!
I'm in Burlington until Saturday or Sunday, and then I'm fleeing
south for the winter! Well, actually southwest; my next stop is in
Syracuse, then State College for Thanksgiving with a friend.
I'm not really sure where I'm going after that, but I'll probably
stick around for a day or two. I'm
definitely interested in
heading south for the winter, though!
I’m really good at
Using my brain. Critical thinking, intuition,
empathy,
communication,
logistics,
patterns,
games, math,
wordplay... That sort of thing.
Survival. Living off nothing. Using my
sense and my
senses.
Plus
jumping
fences and
climbing things. And telling
stories! Packing
picnics, too.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm pretty good at passing in most situations, but my hair's always
a little crazy. Maybe the backpack and
sleeping bag?
Complete
strangers tell me they can see I have
a gentle
nature.
And that I "look smart," for whatever that's worth.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I'm currently in the middle of reading House of Leaves, Haunted,
and In Milton Lumky Territory.
My favorite authors are
Umberto Eco,
A.S. Byatt,
Philip K. Dick, and
Banana
Yoshimoto.
I read
comics, too.
My favorites are Preacher, Casanova, Ghost World,
Transmetropolitan, and
just about any Junji Ito
horror manga.
My favorite movies are
The City Of Lost
Children,
A Clockwork Orange,
Dellamorte Dellamore
(
Cemetery
Man),
In The Mood For Love,
The Jerk, and
Santa Sangre.
I like anything by
Kubrik,
Kurosawa,
Miyazaki, or
Wong Kar Wai. Plus
classic horror and
especially
zombie
flicks. And most everything Pixar's been putting out... I like
movies.
I listen to a lot of music.
Björk was the
artist who got me interested in music in the
first place. Genre doesn't really mean much to me; I fall in
love with certain
artists and that's
that.
I could go on and on about
food, too, but let's just say I'm happiest
with whatever's
free
from your local neighborhood
dumpster! Especially if it's
fancy cheese. Or yummy
delicious
fruit.
Mmm...
The six things I could never do without
I can do without an awful lot.
But if I have to choose, I'd say it's nice to have some sturdy
clothes, a toothbrush, a phone, and a good book. A nice bag to put
it all in helps, too.
I suppose the sixth thing could be almost anything: a city, a
friend, a concert, a time of year... Something to look forward to
and enjoy.
On a typical Friday night I am
There is no typical!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I have a strong aversion to people killing
bugs. I'm a big fan of careful relocation
outdoors.
You should message me if
You want to meet me and think we'd get along, or have
recommendations for free local entertainment, sights, good
dumpsters,
etc.
I'm especially open to going to odd events, visiting
museums, hiking, sharing
stories and games,
finding
wonderful
picnic
spots... You know, having
fun!
