My self-summary
I've travelled a fair bit and my country count has hit double-digits but I'm a far cry from some (lucky!) few who seem to have spent their lives with a passport in their hands. That said, I really no longer consider airports and planes to be fun places. For the last few months, I seem to have been on a plane every week and fear starting to hear the introductory safety talk in my sleep! BTW - it would be great if someone would let me in on the secret to getting those emergency exit seats - especially on the long-haul flights!

I've been in Edmonton just over a year now and pine for the mountains but am growing used to their absence - I just have to get back to them for my fix every so often. Also, my down jacket has acquired a whole new significance in my life!

I'm looking for someone who is curious, intrigued by many things and who enjoys debating ideas. Someone active but not going to be depressed because a chocolate mousse happens to trip us up. Having cats or dogs is a bonus - I live in a pet-free zone and miss them.

BTW - I'm not "420 friendly" - I've worked with too many people badly affected by drugs to have any tolerance for them in a partner. If that offends you, my apologies but I'm not budging on it.

Beyond that? I'm a reader and am a bit of a news junky although I prefer web news sites to TV. Also, if you're up for some skiing (downhill or XC), let's talk. For the rest, let's meet and explore things together. Generally, I'm allergic to the idea of a shopping list - I think it misses something essential in what makes people fascinating to each other. At the end of the day, I want us to look at each other and have our eyes glint with mirth and warmth...

I'm not interested in lengthy email exchanges. Even with the best will in the world on both sides, I think they tend to be misleading.

If I'm not for you, good luck in your search!
What I’m doing with my life
I'm entering my second winter in Alberta and am feeling a whole lot better about it than last year! Thus far, Edmonton has been an interesting experience and I've gained a whole new appreciation for what the freeze-thaw cycle does to roads and the merits of down parkas, toques and gloves!
I’m really good at
Justifying why a single piece of chocolate should never be made to feel lonely in one's stomach. Catching rocks while others are landing fish.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm one of those odd types who doesn't have a TV (yes, really) and hasn't had one for years. That means I'm pretty hopeless in any conversation about current shows. That said, I have watched and enjoyed Amazing Race - I want to go to those places! I most enjoy documentaries but have worked out that the best way to watch them is any way that doesn't force me to watch adverts...

I read a lot: mainly a mix of magazines and news sites with a leavening of non-fiction and fantasy thrown in. Some is for the fascination, the rest is fluff and relaxation.

I like eating pretty much anything that doesn't require me to stalk it across my plate. That said, I tend to go for 2 or 4 legs, fins or wings. I also like spicy and am still looking for a good pho shop in YEG. Any suggestions?
The six things I could never do without
In no particular order:
- Friends
- Books (ok, my ereader these days)
- Podcasts
- Daylight through big windows
- The ability to find natural space without buildings
- Conversation
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Are you kidding me?? It keeps changing!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
If I'm willing to admit is, it's hardly private, is it? :)
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 40–51
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating
You should message me if
You're interested in meeting someone who enjoys conversation and has lived long enough to have lost some his more naive and intolerant corners.

BTW, I do not smoke and _really_ do not like it. Also, I'm not "420 friendly". If you do either, we are not going to suit each other.
