My self-summary
Looking for a smart, pretty partner in crime who's as eclectic as I am! Let's go for a motorcycle ride, or a sunny beach hike with my dog, or go see Mortified, or cook up some redonkulously good food together!

Me: People have said things like "That Tim guy, he's intelligent, nice, charming, and just enough geeky." The words "compassionate" and "witty" have also come up.

And yes I am definitely an information sponge - I love to know how things work, from psychology to tech to to business. I like geeking out on both "evidence-based" science or medicine topics AND pop culture and fun puns.

I enjoy traveling between the SF subcultures and not being any one label. (I dig Bernal, the Mission, AND the Marina.) I still love sampling all the weirdness and wonder and beauty San Francisco has to offer, even after 10 years here.

Would love to meet my permanent partner in crime some time soon. Want kids eventually but only with the right person, and probably not in the next year or three.

Oh, and I have the world's most hilarious and sweet dog, Monkey!
What I’m doing with my life
I grew up in Pennsylvania, came to Palo Alto for college, have been in San Francisco ever since.

I've done the startup/entrepreneur thing a few times now but recently started a job as a Product Manager at a downtown tech firm. In general I'm extremely interested in ways technology can let people come together, help each other, have more fun, be better cooks, and/or live more efficiently! I DO want to change the world (cornball as it sounds) and have a couple "big plans" I still want to take a crack at...

Although tech is my occupation, my interests are far, wide, and weird. I dare you to come up with something I can't talk about.

I've dabbled in triathlon and marathons (Wildflower, Honolulu) but found the time-commitment a bit daunting and now do just a short daily run or exercises.

Interesting trivia: my photo that looks like it was from Burning Man was actually from something called 4th of Julplaya. Bonus points if you've been to either, though honestly neither are a huge priority for me anymore.

In the last year or so I've significantly "gotten my shit together" in a couple areas simultaneously :) (exercise, diet, finances, general organization). Feels good.
I’m really good at
a surprisingly large number of things. I can fix stuff around the house, diagnose cars, cook stuff that will knock your socks off, fix computers, ride horses, make bread, stop things from squeaking, and deconstruct Mad Men. I'm a dabbler in the best sense of the word, love to read, and endlessly curious. I'm more the sensitive-guy type (but not milquetoast) than the caveman type.

I'm also really good at not being picky about food (especially by SF standards). Which doesn't mean I don't love and appreciate *good* food! And cooking it!
The first things people usually notice about me
my nice blue eyes
or the fact that I know some obscure factoid
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Louis CK, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, KCRW, Weeds, Anthony Bourdain, Sam Harris, vbs.tv, Bridesmaids, Ira Glass, David Sedaris, The Alchemist, Freakonomics, Malcolm Gladwell, Donnie Darko, Fear and Loathing, Almost Famous, Fight Club, Ben Goldacre, SLC Punk, 30 Rock, Community, Tim Minchin, Daily Show, Adventure Time (it's the new Spongebob!), Children's Hospital, OutsideLands, Mark Bittman, Jon Kabat-Zinn, LOVE Cook's Illustrated

Any music that's good.

Things I like to do: cooking for my friends, Fort Funston hikes with my dog, Bernal Hill picnics with a bottle of red, Burritt Room and other cocktail bars, checking out the latest Brass Tax/Strategik/Burning Man-ish party, riding my motorcycle, happy hours, El Rio, movies on my ginormous projector screen, hosting small dinner parties, camping by the Russian River or anywhere, talking about the mind or the future of the world or sex or science or stupid puns...
The six things I could never do without
1. Monkey (my hilarious and loyal dog)
2. My Le Creuset (and my Cook's Illustrateds to make stuff in it!)
3. my daily runs (short but therapeutic)
4. trello.com (to keep me organized)
5. wikipedia/google (to know what's what)
6. family and friends (corny but true!)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
how to solve problems
On a typical Friday night I am
Sometimes a happy hour or movie with a small group, sometimes a storytelling or comedy event, sometimes seeing what's up with Public Works or the like (DJs and Burning Man-ish stuff), sometimes taking off for camping or Tahoe.

I work hard enough that I feel no shame in the occasional solo chill with me, my dog, a comfy couch, something tasty that I've made, and spinning a funk record or watching TV (used to be Mad Men but currently House of Cards).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've got a big, compassionate, but delicate heart.

You should message me if
...you dig smart or silly conversation, cooking, camping, dogs, cats, motorcycles or scooters, storytelling or comedy, nice cocktails (I like green things: mint, basil, cucumber). Or nice guys who know way too many factoids. Or if you're bright and pretty and sweet and weird.

Or how about this: Write me if you want to know the punchline to this joke I semi-made-up:
"How many Marin yuppies does it take to screw in a lightbulb...?"
