Hiya I am now trying to be called John, it is my 2nd name by the way.
A little about myself.
I was an electrical/mechanical engineer i.e Lift Engineer for 28 years , before that I was a blacksmith farrier and Agricultural engineer.
I used to in my spare time keep and teach beekeeping and also play and teach tenpin bowling, sadly those days are gone, you need a good back or someone to help you to lift a beehive weighing 90 lb, although I can still play tenpin and could help your game if your into tenpin bowling, I would even be interested in helping you with beekeeping.

I do not work anymore as a disc in my back prolapsed and trapped the nerves in my spine which means prolonged activity aggravates the nerves which then later on cripples me up, I still managed to reline the concrete guttering, and repaint the house with frequent rests so I'm not totally useless yet, having said all that, it does mean I have lots of free time to enjoy the beach , camping and travelling abroad, if I had someone to go with that is :)
Ive got a good sense of humour ,and I think I am an honest and trustworhy and down to earth person, and also a very tactile and caring person , would like to meet someone with good sense of humour and simular interests. x

I have been on incapacity since 2005 when I suffered a prolapsed disc which trapped the nerves in my spine and have only recently started being more active again.
Up until November of last year I had been looking after three 11 year old Golden Retrievers we have had since they were pups, my ex has now taken them:(
I go cycling and walking and sometimes tenpin bowling.

Caring, and being faithful, I like to think I would be a good sensual partner but need a 2nd opinion:)
Jobs around the house, I built most of it, and also landscaped the garden, not so good at the finishing touches.

Never asked any to find out.
But was recently told I should smile more as I have a nice smile.

I read almost everything, regardless of subject, but for a relaxing read, prefer science fiction/fantasy.

Among some of my favorites are:

Books: Pretty much all the classics, and nearly anything by Terry Pratchett, David Eddings.

Films: As good as it gets, Dead poets society, Cry Freedom, Moulin Rouge, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Sci-fi, action/adventure, Thrillers or romance, and basically anything that stars Robin Williams, Demi Moore, Julia Roberts, Eva Mendes, Kevin Klein, Whoopie Goldberg, Goldie Hawn, Susan Sarandon, Sean Connery, Kevin Costner, Sandra Bullock,Kaley Cuoco, Keira Knightley.

I heartily disapprove of the level of violence in some films I think the shooting is way over the top, no one is that bad at hitting a target, but I still watch them, I do not watch gruesome scary films like the Texas chainsaw types.

Music: I listen to most music, from opera to grand ole opry, and everything in between........

Food: I like to try most foods even spicy foods that are not my usual diet.

I wish there were things in life that I could not do without, Companionship I crave the most, and the obvious food and air, a pen, a set of small screwdrivers, an analogue test meter spring to mind.
If something stops working I'll take it apart to find out why.

Having a lot of time to think.
I dislike people using the phrase "I cant wait" as I am always disappointed when having waited for their head to explode, it doesn't.
The fact that more and more commentators are needed to present a program these days, sometimes to the point where it is only them talking.

Reading a book, or watching tv again.

I gave up tobacco in 2007, I am still a nicotine addict and get my fix via an electronic inhalator.

Your only into having an exclusive relationship.
Your looking for cheap rent and would like to meet and maybe have a drink and maybe a game of tenpin and just take things slow.
