I am amusing, thrill-seeking, and kind of a smartass.
My Self-Summary
Here's a few things about me:
I grew up in the Dallas area, and I'm definitely a city girl. But I
wouldn't mind living somewhere that's a little cooler and has
decent public transportation. I love walking around a city, and
it's not really feasible here most of the time.
I like trying new things: After years of searching, I've finally
found a sport that I really enjoy/don't suck at! I tried rock
climbing earlier this year, and now I'm going every weekend with
friends. I must say, I'm getting pretty good at it. I've also
learned to brew beer from a friend as part of a bet. It'll be
another month or so before I find out if I'm any good at this. I'm
also competitive, and like to make silly bets with people. It
doesn't always pan out, but it makes the workday more
interesting.
Given the right company, I really can enjoy just about any
situation, but my favorite activities include:
-Trying new restaurants (I'm all about playing the amateur food
critic on Yelp!)
-Having a good beer at the end of a long day
-Sitting in my PJ's with a cup of coffee and something good to
read
-Going to concerts when I have time (the last great one was BB King
-- needless to say, he and Lucille have still got it)
-Traveling anywhere new. I'm lucky to have family scattered around,
so I've been all over. Still, there's a lot of world to see, and I
intend to see it all. My last big trip was to Thailand and I got
scuba certified in 3 days. I wouldn't really recommend this
haphazard approach to learning something dangerous, but it was my
birthday and it seemed like a solid idea at the time. I'll probably
take a real diving class at some point.
I guess I'm sometimes a little shy at first, but I'm an open book
once I get to know you. When I really hit it off with someone,
there's no end to the hilarity that will ensue. I'm not big on
clubbing every weekend or hanging out with huge groups of people I
barely know (though it can be fun every now and then). I'd much
rather go out with a few close friends or just spend time
one-on-one.
I'm a loyal and independent person and I'm looking to meet someone
with those qualities, who can make me laugh (or at least, gets my
jokes) and is up for an adventure. If any of this sounds appealing,
you should say hello. :)
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently working in microbiology, but I'm planning to start
nursing school next year for a change of pace. More news on that as
is develops.
I’m really good at
Well, I'm pretty good at crossword puzzles...I make a mean omelet
and great cheesecake brownies...I'm pretty good at trivia and
identifying non-Star Trek-related movie quotes (sorry, Trekkies)
The first things people usually notice about me
Some say I have a good smile -- I'll let you be the judge.
I get a lot of compliments on my teeth... It's nice and a little
bit odd all at once.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
There are just so many....
Some of my favorite authors are Richard Dawkins, David Sedaris,
& Eckhart Tolle. I read just about anything, based on my mood
and what I find at Half Price Books. I tried reading some Anne Rice
lately, but these vampires aren't holding my interest as much as I
thought they would. Now I'm rereading The Little Prince, just
'cause I came across it at the bookstore the other day. It's still
good!
Movies: Pulp Fiction, Shawshank, The Big Lebowski, Old School, High
Fidelity, Coming to America, When Harry Met Sally, My Fair Lady,
and anything Hitchcock, to name just a few.
I'm sort of taking a break from my iPod now that I've discovered
the magic of Pandora.com and Project Playlist at work. I listen to
just about everything -- the list would be ridiculously long, and
is always changing. Right now I'm on a Big Band kick. Think Charles
Mingus & Duke Ellington.
I love food of all kinds. But especially Thai food. And Indian
food. Ethiopian food is climbing the charts lately. I'm also a big
fan of brunch. yum.
The six things I could never do without
A book
family and friends
games (board and card)
music
cereal
coffee
(Probably not in this order, though.)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Work, friends, life, Everything. I can be pretty analytical
sometimes. Lately I've been checking my e-mail constantly waiting
to hear about school, and thinking about what it might be like to
live off of Ramen noodles while I'm in school. It'll be worth
it...everybody likes noodles, right? :)
On a typical Friday night I am
I don't really have a typical Friday night. Usually it's just low
key stuff like going to a movie or playing games with friends.
Sometimes my friends will host a Rockband party and we'll stayed up
playing til 3 am. Turns out I have a Beatles-specific love of
karaoke! It is a little scary...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I have a not-so-secret love of taking silly quizzes.
Birds kinda creep me out the way some people are afraid of spiders
or clowns.
I keep a scrabble board and some kind of card game in my car at all
times because, well, you never know when a scrabble emergency might
hit. Then you'll just feel silly without it.
I looove sweet potato fries. And stuffing. Already lookin' forward
to Thanksgiving!
I can't stand pickles. Don't even want them touching my food.
None of these are really private things, so I went for random
things instead. I'm not one to put private things on a profile, but
I'm pretty open in person.
You should message me if
you think we might have something to talk about, or if you just
want to take a chance and go grab some coffee or a beer sometime.
It might be a lot of fun, and if it doesn't work out, it's not the
end of the world, right?
