I am geeky, friendly, and creative.
My Self-Summary
I grew up in the
mid-west, lived in
Seattle for a few years (I love
Seattle). I moved to
Hollywood to try to get into the
film
industry. That didn't work out (I like film-making, but not the
industry), so I went back to a tech job.
I've been to five of the seven continents, and hope to get number
six late next year. I've been to almost every state (mostly through
family vacations as a kid). The most beautiful place I've ever seen
was sunset over the Lemaire Channel.
A typical weekend for me (when I'm not
traveling) is hanging out with
friends, watching
movies, playing
games or
hiking.
What I’m doing with my life
Saving the world! I used to work for two large software companies.
Now I work for a company developing
solar energy.
I’m really good at
Math, engineering, fixing things,
cooking,
juggling,
dancing (actually I'm not that good at
dancing, but I do enjoy it)
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
movies: I like most movies I see. Some all-time favorites (in no
particular order) include:
The Princess Bride,
Stardust, the
original Star
Wars, Peter Jackson's
Lord of the Rings,
Serenity,
Clerks,
Run, Lola, Run,
The 5th Element,
Empire
Records,
Shakespeare In Love. Some
recent favorites include
The Dark Knight,
WALL-E,
Hancock,
Get Smart,
Traitor.
books: I usually read cheap sci-fi/fantasy novels (the guy
equivalent of "romance novels"). Recently I've been reading George
Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, as well as many of Terry
Pratchett's "Discworld" books, and slowly working my way through
Gene Wolfe's "The Book of the New Sun" series. For the last year or
so, I've also been reading various management/personal growth books
from http://personalmba.com/
music: I'm willing to listen to almost anything, except rap or
country, but mostly I listen to whatever's on the radio, which is
usually tuned to my local jazz station, KKJZ. I also listen to
various NPR podcasts; some favorites include "Car Talk", "This I
Believe", "Whad'Ya Know" and "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me"
food: a few favorites include: Chicken Teriyaki, Panang Curry, Lamb
Tikka, Chicken Tikka Masala, but it really depends on my mood. I'm
usually willing to try almost anything that doesn't involve
seafood.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the future...short term and long...
What am I doing this weekend? Do I have plans for this evening?
What's for dinner? How am I going to fix this current problem at
work?
Where will I be/where do I want to be in 1 year, 2 years, 5 years,
10 years? What will the world be like in 5 years, 10 years, 30
years?
On a typical Friday night I am
Fridays tend to be my "night off", though they don't have to be.
Monday through Thursday, I'm usually mentoring high school students
in a technology program, working late, or going to the gym. Friday
I usually either come home and watch TV or go out to a movie.
Saturdays and Sundays I nearly always have something going on,
whether hanging out with friends, going out to movies, hiking,
hosting or attending a games night, or traveling.
You should message me if
you're a girl who likes guys, you're on OkCupid because you're
interested in dating, you're in the LA area, and you think I sound
interesting.
