My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm whimsical, lighthearted and love to laugh. I usually smile at strangers on the street, and like to talk to anyone. As introverted as I am, I thrive on social connections, which is why I work with people. Some of my more profound life experiences have been during meditation retreats, so I enjoy talking about spirituality and the meaning of life and all that too.

Ten years in the Bay Area have revealed my granola tendencies, but I'm still a down to earth New Englander at heart. I appreciate grounded, salt of the earth folks more than anything.

I work as a psychotherapist and yoga teacher at a high school, which is a trip, especially when the teens are making fun of my clothes or using slang that I've never heard of. Haha, seriously though, it's really fun when it's not too crazy. My main interest is in somatic therapy with a focus on mindfulness, and I'm currently in a yearlong somatic therapy training program. I also incorporate art therapy techniques into my work, which helps the kids access their subconscious right brain, and allows me to be more visually creative too. Yay, it's a win-win!

My favorite things to do are dancing (mostly Latin and Cuban Salsa), reading good books, yoga, hiking, escaping to hot springs, traveling, and sharing a home-cooked meal with good company. Nature is undoubtedly the best medicine, and I try to be in it as much as possible. I'd love to live in a more natural setting, preferably by the ocean, or at least a house with a backyard garden.

My background is in Social work and I lean far left politically.

Enjoying the rare lazy morning at home. Taking dance and yoga classes. Studying somatic therapy. Cooking and preparing meals. Planning my summer travels (Bali, perhaps?). Decorating my apartment.

I recently decided to make 1000 paper cranes. And in general, making time for more creative projects.

Music: Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Janelle Monae, Timba, Calle 13, some Kirtan, Arcade Fire, Silvio Rodriguez, the new D'Angelo album is on repeat, lately I've been into seeing local Latin Cumbia fusion bands. I like most types of music.

Movies: Anything by Pedro Almodovar, When Harry met Sally, Harold and Maude, The NeverEnding Story, Funny Face

NPR, This American Life, other random podcasts.

I don't own a TV, but there is Netflix. The Wire and 30 Rock were really great. Greys Anatomy is my guilty pleasure- please don't judge : )

I need to bring some New Yorker back into my life.

Sufi poetry

Gardening is fun and calming; I wish that I had one again. I like playing in the dirt and growing vegetables.

I generally avoid crowded bars and clubs, unless it is for dancing. A lounge or cafe is more my style. Or somewhere outside where the air is clean.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
"The cure for anything is salt water- sweat, tears or the sea."
-Isak Dineson

Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.

Dancing Cuban Salsa or at a dinner party with friends

I am not a late night party person and usually avoid crowded bars or clubs.

Maybe on an epic date with you, that involves a sunset hike (hopefully)...
