My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
hola, thanks for visiting!

Here's a bit about what I'm looking for- My ideal man is lighthearted and funny. He knows how to communicate, and doesn't run away from intimacy. We will hopefully evolve into something long-term. And we can't keep our hands off each other : )

As for my lifestyle, I like to spend time in nature, have deep connections with friends, and create lots of light moments of fun and laughter.

Spirituality and personal growth are important to me. My first silent meditation retreat was transformative, and I hope to do another one soon.

I appreciate natural beauty and design, and am a fan of the aesthetic Wabi-Sabi.

I hike and dance (Latin and Cuban Salsa, mostly), and generally need to stay active and move my body. I practice Yoga (tantric/energy/alignment based) and recently completed a 200 hour teacher training. I also practice Reiki and other alternative forms of healing. I've finally come to accept that I'm pretty Bay Area new agey : ) But I'm also really down to earth! It's my New England roots.

I have a deep wanderlust spirit. I've lived abroad in Latin America (Colombia and Mexico) and would love to date someone who shares my passion for adventure and spontaneity.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Being outside by Lake Merritt or in the hills. Spending time with friends. Having me time. Enjoying the rare lazy morning at home.

I work as a psychotherapist at a continuation high school, where I use art and somatic techniques in my sessions. I am planning to study more somatic therapy because I love it and I think our bodies give us a lot of messages; we just need to know how to listen to them, and that requires slowing down.

I was a social worker for many years, but I'm now working toward a career that is more personally fulfilling. Social justice and inequality issues are still very important to me.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Seeing the big picture
Being a good friend
Pushing outside my comfort zone
Finding beauty/humanity/humor in difficult situations
Being silly
Cuban Salsa dancing

I'm getting better at:
Teaching yoga
Sewing and knitting- love DIY creative projects (wish I had more time for this)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
A friend said it was my long legs, and that I was trusting because I lent her money in the first hour we met.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Recent Spotify playlists: Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Janelle Monae, Timba, Calle 13, some Kirtan, Arcade Fire, Silvio Rodriguez. My tastes are wide, and I love to learn about new music and see live shows.

Movies- Pedro Almodovar, When Harry met Sally, Harold and Maude, The NeverEnding Story

NPR, This American Life, other random podcasts

I don't own a TV, and hardly watch any shows, but I'm not averse to vegging out in front of a good series. I remember The Wire and 30 Rock being really great. Greys Anatomy is my guilty pleasure- please don't judge : )

Books are important. I was voted Most Prolific Reader in the 4th grade. Recently finished Americanah- it was excellent! and I finally picked up Non-Violent Communication- good, practical tools for any kind of relationship.

I miss having some New Yorker in my life.

Sufi poetry

I try to eat healthy, unprocessed food- organic, very little sugar. When I had a garden for a short time, I loved growing my own vegetables. I don't believe there are hard and fast rules about eating; for me, it works to eat mostly home cooked meals that are loosely based on my Ayurvedic dosha.

I love good food, but I'm not really into the latest bar/restaurant/club, etc. A picnic, outdoor concert, or farmers market is more appealing to me.

Apart from an occasional well-made cocktail, I rarely drink alcohol.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
"The cure for anything is salt water- sweat, tears or the sea."
-Isak Dineson
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Slowing down and being present, and then doing that
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Probably not at a crowded bar.

Likely dancing Cuban Salsa, curled up with a book, or at a dinner party with friends

Maybe on an epic date with you...that involves a sunset hike...

Any of this resonates wih you.

Since I rarely drink alcohol these days, you have another idea besides a bar for a first date.

You choose to spend money on experiences over material objects.

You are creative.

You're reliable and know the importance of good communication. Holla!
