My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.

I'm a down to earth New Englander who has made the Bay Area home for ten years. In general, I strive for a simple life full of time in nature, travel, deep connections, light and memorable moments of fun and laughter, and hopefully a solid partnership with someone who shares similar values.

I am drawn to spirituality and try to use Buddhist principles as my guiding values in life.

I appreciate natural beauty and design, and am a fan of the Japanese aesthetic Wabi-Sabi.

I believe that we should enjoy life as much as possible, and take advantage of our freedom to be and express ourselves completely. Yoga (tantric/energy based that is grounded in alignment/Iyengar lineage) and dance (Latin and Cuban Salsa, mostly) are big parts of my life. I also practice and teach relaxation modalities through a program called Urban Zen Integrative Therapy (Reiki, restorative yoga, pranayama, aromatherapy).

I have a wanderlust spirit, and adventures keep life flowing. I've traveled a good amount, and lived abroad in Latin America.

I have a dream to live by the beach again, maybe in Santa Cruz or another coastal town in California, or Mexico, where I can fall asleep to crashing waves every night.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
For my 9-5, I am a psychotherapist to teenagers at a continuation high school.

As I said, yoga and dance are a big part of my life, as is getting out into nature for day or weekend trips. Anything involving water is appealing to me. Today I drifted down the Russian River and felt completely rejuvenated afterward.

I am planning to study somatic psychotherapy at the Hakomi Institute.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Seeing the big picture
Being a good friend
Pushing outside my comfort zone
Finding beauty and humanity in difficult situations
Being silly
Salsa dancing

I'm getting better at:

Teaching yoga
Sewing and knitting- love DIY creative projects (wish I had more time for this)
Very sloooowly getting a little better at playing Maracatu, a type of Brazilian music from the northeast. I started taking lessons about a month ago with a great community of people.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
A friend said it was my long legs, and that I was trusting because I lent her money in the first hour we met. That was in Guatemala nine years ago, and we're still good friends : )

Recent spotify playlists: Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Janelle Monae, Timba, Calle 13, some Kirtan, Arcade Fire, Silvio Rodriguez. My tastes are wide, and I love to learn about new music and see live shows.

Movies- anything Woody Allen or Pedro Almodovar, When Harry met Sally, Harold and Maude, The NeverEnding Story

NPR, This American Life

I don't own a TV, and hardly watch any shows recently. But I'm not averse to vegging out in front of a good series. The Wire and 30 Rock are both great. Greys Anatomy is a guilty pleasure- please don't judge : )

Books are important, and I'm usually reading a few at a time. Americanah is great so far, and I finally picked up Non-Violent Communication. Good, practical tools for any kind of relationship.

Sufi poetry : )

I try to eat healthy, unprocessed food- more greens, less sugar. When I had a garden for a short time, I loved growing my own vegetables, and would like to move to a new home where I can do that again.

Apart from an occasional cocktail, I rarely drink alcohol right now.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
"The cure for anything is salt water- sweat, tears or the sea."
-Isak Dineson
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Traveling/living abroad again

After many years as a social worker, shifting my career to be more sustainable and in alignment with my passions.

Meeting a partner to share this life journey
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Definitely not at a crowded bar.

Possibly dancing Cuban Salsa, curling up with a book, or at a dinner party with friends

or maybe on an epic date with you...that involves a sunset hike...
