My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
So much to love about life: traveling to faraway places and taking naps in the afternoons; cooking for friends while drinking a good Cabernet (Blackburn 2007 is great!) and listening to Yo Yo Ma or Louis Armstrong or Boney M (Afro-German disco music from the 70s); dancing with my kids in the kitchen; hearing my girls repeat things I've told them as if they are their own ideas (like "being weird is the best!). Walking around NYC for hours; hole in the wall jazz clubs; skiing in the Alps; long kisses that never end; carrying a sleeping child from the car to her bed, her weight heavy in my arms (been a while); awesome food that's slowly prepared and slowly eaten; running when it's drizzling; stopping for an espresso in a piazza in Rome; meeting up with old friends in other countries; playing boardgames with my kids and their friends; figuring out, or trying to, how to live life better.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Trying to do the best job raising my three daughters while making the most out of the job I love as a physician....trying to figure out how things work around the house (but usually revert to calling my trusted handyman); planning my next travel adventure--maybe biking in Ireland this summer? Studying acupuncture which is really cool even though I haven't a clue how it works.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
conversations, cooking, planning excellent trips, making the most out of city visits, humming along to songs, drawing, my job.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have no idea! Maybe my awesome boots?

Love Michael Chabon, Jhumpa Lahiri, Jon Stewart, David Sedaris, Nicole Krauss, the writers of "Cook's Illustrated", Louis CK, Jazz, all food (except Chinese), especially Thai, Vietnamese, Sushi, French, Spanish...The growing pile of books by my bed and in my ipad includes "My Promised Land", Elizabeth Gilbert's "The signature of all things" and "Black Swan". Did I have to put those in quotes?
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My kids, of course; NPR, good coffee (strong), friends, travelling, books, good food, exercise, exploring, dark chocolate, early mornings to myself (who's counting....)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
that elusive work/life balance; my work and how I want to develop professionally; what kind of person I want to be; politics (sometimes); how to think; my kids; all the places I want to travel to; whether to stop at Whole Foods on the way home (food shopping should be fun for a foodie like me, but it can be so boring too)
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
either with my kids watching a movie or out to dinner with friends, hopefully in NYC or somewhere local; or entertaining at home. Or reading about ancient chinese medicine and acupuncture. There's an acupuncture point in the foot that apparently stops bleeding. Weird.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
If I am listening to the radio and a Billy Joel song comes on I might not always change the station.
