My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm just a dorky queer living and working in Northampton! A dorky queer who is terrible at self summaries. What the hell do you say in these things?

I love to read young adult lit, talk a lot, cook -- I LOVE to cook and am always looking for new cooking/eating buddies -- and play roller derby. I'm not very good at it yet, but everyone has to start somewhere, right?

Also, I'm in a poly relationship and am not particularly interested in being monogamous with someone even if I wasn't. (But I definitely am. Seeing someone.) So, you know. There's that. I love people! And I love dating people and meeting new people! I'm not good at monogamy. I find it very stressful.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Talking! Seriously, I love to talk to new people. Or just to talk. In general. I have been known to talk to people for hours, and not because I've trapped them there by monologuing. I just like meeting new people and finding out about them!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: I basically read books for a living (Young Adult bookseller holla!) so I have a rotating list, but if forced to choose: Mindscape by Andrea Hairston, Good Omens, Blue Beetle V 3 series, Graceling and all of Kristin Cashore's books. I just recently read Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan and I LOVED it, if you've read it you should totally ping me because I need to talk to someone about it!

Authors: Charles de Lint, Tamora Pierce, Andrea Gibson (do poets count?), Pearl Cleage, Chandra Mohanty, Gloria Anzaldua, CLAMP

TV: Avatar: the Last Airbender, Gilmore Girls, Archer, Bob's Burgers, Gravity Falls, Leverage

Movies: Spirited Away, Fast and the Furious 1-5 (to varying degrees), Star Trek (2011), Bend it like Beckham, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, District B13 (French), Serenity, Howl's Moving Castle,

Music: My music tastes range all over the place from folk to hip hop. Right now my favorite artists are probably Girlyman, Janelle Monae, The Duhks, Nicki Manaj, Lupe Fiasco, Coyote Grace, Brandi Carlile, K'naan and M.I.A.

Food: Oh my god I fucking love food. I'm not a big fan of American, or European (i.e. French, Italian, German) but I love "ethnic" food: Indian, Filipino, Vietnamese, Korean, Middle Eastern, Ethiopian, Japanese, Mexican, Suramericano, Chinese, etc. If you want to try something and need a companion, I am your person.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Sunshine, my cat, friends who like to laugh, green things, good food and let's be honest, I couldn't live without my computer.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Oh, you know, important stuff. What I'm going to cook for dinner, does my cat have crazy eyes right now because he wants to play or because he has a taste for blood, are my library books overdue (the answer is almost always yes), why is my home state so terrible (Arizona) and can I fix anything long distance, didn't I have my ipod around here somewhere...

But I also like to think about tv shows, movies, ads and how they impact us. I like to think (and talk) about anti-oppression, how it works, how to make it work better, how we can use it in our lives.

Sometimes I like to talk about physics, too! But most people tune me out when I start babbling about inelastic collisions and stuff like that.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Working. Life of a retail worker, my weekends are always booked.

But on my days off, I can be found chilling with friends, going out to get a drink or two, cooking something new in my kitchen, or maybe just watching a movie.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm pretty submissive when it comes to sex. I didn't think I needed to admit this, but apparently there's a weird association with "masculine looking people" and "tops," so I figure I should just write it down so that y'all can factor that into your decisions.

You've managed to make it through my terrible, bland profile and still think I'm somewhat interesting. I appreciate your optimism! I promise I'm more interesting than this profile, I just suck at talking about myself.
