I am fun-loving, insightful, and seeking new things.
My Self-Summary
I'm taking a break from dating sites, as I've found I don't have
time to reply to everyone, and I hate to keep getting messages from
perfectly nice guys and not writing back. If I decide to come back
(maybe over the summer, when I'm not in school), I'll take this
down.
I'm that friend you can come to when you need to be taken care of.
Whether it's helping someone prepare for a tough exam, bringing
them a fresh baked cookie, or just staying with them when they're
feeling sick, few things make me happier than knowing I've improved
someone's day. I don't give up easily, once I set my mind to
something I follow through-- that can be at times a good thing or a
bad thing. I don't drink much, but I'll party once in a while as
long as I'm with friends.
Right now I'm looking to meet some new and interesting people, go
on a few dates, and see where it leads. In a long term
relationship, I'd look for someone who is willing to learn about me
and let me learn about them, and who is not seeking a purely
physical relationship. Someone with high standards but not an
oversized ego. Someone who recognizes that nobody is perfect, but
still respects themselves and others, and will respect me. Someone
who will challenge me to do and see and learn new things, and is
looking to do the same.
Finally, some fun facts about me:
-I make my popcorn from plain kernels in a saucepan. Microwave just
isn't the same.
-Purple is by far my favorite color, and has been for my entire
life.
-I absolutely adore young children.
-My favorite part of doing laundry is cleaning the lint trap.
-I'll jump on pretty much any excuse to bake.
-I keep my room a little bit cold so I can snuggle up under warm
blankets at night. I'd love to have somebody to snuggle with :)
What I’m doing with my life
I am a sophomore nursing student at Simmons College in Boston.
Ergo, I spend a lot of time studying, going to clinical, and
reminding people that they should not be asking me for medical
advice because damnit, I'm only a sophomore!
I am also learning ballet, singing and working on getting better at
reading music, and trying to keep up with the love of theater that
I developed in high school, which is hard when your school doesn't
have a theater department. I recently started weight lifting, both
to get stronger and so i won't have crumbly bones when I get
old.
In January, I went on a 10 day trip to Israel and it sparked in me
a fierce desire to see the world, so I'm working on acquiring the
funds for that. I have never lived outside of MA and I'm starting
to think about what sort of place I might like to work when I
graduate, whether it be in another part of the country or another
part of the world.
I’m really good at
Taking blood pressures? Baking. Teaching people. Graphic artsy
stuff. Keeping a level head. Puzzles, jigsaw and otherwise. Working
through problems logically. Finding/coming up with things to do.
Dreaming up impossible schemes and then finding a way to make them
work (sometimes. or sometimes it's just fun to think about them).
The first things people usually notice about me
My sense of humor and desire to help. And sometimes my tics (see
"the most private thing I'm willing to admit here).
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
books: the phantom tollbooth, monique and the mango rains, things
fall apart, to kill a mockingbird.
movies: big fish, thank you for smoking, august rush
music: broadway, sarah barrailles, gavin degraw, city high,
anything a capella. My itunes is relatively limited. Want to help
me expand it?
food: chocolate, honeydew melon, stawberries, lox, the list goes
on...
The six things I could never do without
camera
friends
activities to occupy my time
chapstick, lotion, and a water bottle (which for the purpose of
this list i will consider one thing under the umbrella of
"hydration")
my memory
a set of cookie sheets
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Nursing/exams/clinical. When I'll get my next chance to bake
something. Whether that stain on my shirt will wash out. How my
friends are doing. Serendipity and the amazing chances I've been
given.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I have tourrette's syndrome, a neurobiological disorder that causes
tics (involuntary muscle movements or vocalizations). It's mild to
moderate depending on how relaxed I am and the day/week/lunar
phase/pollen count in Shanghai, but it doesn't affect my cognitive
function at all. Think of it as something extra, not something
taken away. It is perhaps a bit unsettling when people first meet
me, if i'm having a "ticcy" day, but those who've known me for a
while hardly react to it at all anymore. One of my friends even has
a "favorite tic"!
You should message me if
you fall into any of the following categories: singer, dancer,
actor, techie (in the theater sense of the word), baker,
tourretter, nice jewish boy, patient (as in having patience, not
being a patient), intellectual, assertive. Or, you fall into none
of those categories and you want to introduce me to something new!
